| rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA Just back from travel with the new Micro. I decided to carry it on versus making a "cart" as I was running short on time.. Put the Micro in a back pack dive bag, and put a black bungee around the middle of the pack pack to make it look smaller. The Mirco fit in the little box your carry on bags have to fit in, and passing through TSA was very easy (they swipe the bag with a cloth and analyze the cloth, and sent me on my way). When Paul said you can "fly and dive" by carrying this unit on, he was not joking. Land at Cayman, take rEVO out of bag, Pack sorb, calibrate, snap in tanks, and diving in less than 1/2 hour... rEvo has a big winner in the Micro for the traveling diver (as well as the non traveling diver for that matter).. | Re: rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA Hey Tony -- I am not 100% sure, but I will weigh it all tonight and post tomorrow.. It is light enough that a putz like me can carry it on my back through Customs in Miami -- and we all know that is not a fast trip ...Be back with the weight shortly.. John |

Re: rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA This is great idea. Too bad I already ordered and paid for one of those Swiss backpack things. As for weight, it must be over 10kg since the basic weight of the lightest rEvo is over 10kg. On most airlines that I have travelled, their carry-on weight limit is 10kg, but what I have also noticed is that if the item is backpacked, they never weight it either; I guess assuming that you can carry it without a constipated look on your face, it can't be heavy.

Re: rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA Ok -- just weighted everything: rEVO Micro + harness and back plates + back pack dive bag + bungee rings for side mount = 38 pounds including the back pack (back pack weighs about 4 pounds). I have an additional Y block and Paul's longer hose Kit for the Micro that might add a bit of weight (a pound or two maybe).... FYI -- Next time I will remove the split back plates and harness and bungee D-rings, and put in checked bag. this will take off about 7 pounds... John

Re: rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA hey Greg, hope all is well ! Being 6'4" there are some differences from my standard... but they are slight... Reaching the valves is not difficult for me on the Micro. They sit about where my suit inflation botle would be on my Standard size rEVO. I have one of Don's cool stands on the Micro too, so it actually sits an inch or two higher off the ground than my standard... so getting into the Micro on a boat is as easy as my standard size rEVO.. Trim wise I need a bit more weight on the belt versus the top of the Micro -- but this is due to my height I am sure.. Also I need to add 2-4 pounds in a 3/2 mm wet suit with hood while diving the Micro. With my standard, I am pretty negative with a 3/2 and hood... I must say, the Micro has exceeded my expectations by a HUGE margin.. my Standard is getting nervous as it is now sitting in the ejection seat ..See you in April for Clemente?? Safe dives man, John

Re: rEvo 3 Micro FT and TSA Ok -- just weighted everything: Wow, you got it down to 38 lbs (17.3 kg). I was going to ask you about the wing, but from your note, it looks like you took off the wing.rEVO Micro + harness and back plates + back pack dive bag + bungee rings for side mount = 38 pounds including the back pack (back pack weighs about 4 pounds). I have an additional Y block and Paul's longer hose Kit for the Micro that might add a bit of weight (a pound or two maybe).... FYI -- Next time I will remove the split back plates and harness and bungee D-rings, and put in checked bag. this will take off about 7 pounds... John I put mine into a suitcase, but seperated the wing and the backplates as I have heard of 2 cases where the frame of the rEvo punchering the wing. So in the same suitcase were the full rEvo (frame, wing, backplate, hoses, ... etc.) less the tanks, shorty 3mm wetsuit, dive boots (no fins - too heavy), and some spares bits-and-pieces; that came to exactly 23kg (50.6 lbs) which is the limit on many airlines in economy / cattle class.
