| Pulling apart Revo3 dsv My new Revo 3 has a very stiff on off action. So I have attempted to pull apart to lube up. Removed the on off knob and flapper valves but for the life of me I cant get the barrel out to lube it. Do you remove the barrel in off or open position??? Any tricks I am not aware off. I gather a hammer and screw driver is not a good idea. I am going to try warming it up under warmish water and see if I get any luck. Help appreciated. Cheerio Damien |

| Re: Pulling apart Revo3 dsv Hi Damien, I did that two days ago as my DSV was also very stiff. Just use the handle of a screw diver big enough not to damage the inner barrel. Close the DSV. Push a little bit to let the outer o-ring appear then take it off. Push on the opposite side and take the barrel out gently. Use O2 grease and put a fair amount on the o-rings. It should be easier to manipulate. |

| Re: Pulling apart Revo3 dsv Hi Damien, at the moment we are testing out a modification on the standard DSV, that makes it working super smooth all the time, and will prevent getting small dirt/sand (from cave diving) sticking between barrel and outer housingI did that two days ago as my DSV was also very stiff. | Re: Pulling apart Revo3 dsv Thanks all used a broom handle with some tape wrapped to get the right diameter. Took a lot of effort but it came loose and one outer oring is now in 2 pieces. The inner bore on the DSV looks like it has been attacked by gremlins with mini chainsaws. Will be getting a bag of orings to fit but would not recomend you pull apart your DSV unless you have these and want to go diving the next day. I look forward to Pauls resolve as mentioned below. I think I probably need a new inner sleeve on my DSV for it to function smoothly. Mind you the Revo and DSV is only 6 weeks old and cleaned very well after its all of 16 dives in non silty conditions. Cheerio |

Cheerio solution, very fine sandpaper, clean it up a bit, the sealing is not on the surface of the barrel, but the O-rings, so no problem will look up the O-rings, we have them as spare kit are you sure only 6 weeks old, Damien? paul

| Re: Pulling apart Revo3 dsv Confirming Paul's point -- see attached photo of when I pulled mine apart last week. I used a method similar to Stepane's to get the barrel out. IT was very stiff and could not close DSV without two hands, and then it was really hard to close.. After I got the barrel out, I notices the scratches on the barrel, but the DSV housing was smooth as could be and not a scratch on it.. Little sanding on the barrel, and smoothed it right out.. Re greased the O-rings w/ Trib-0-lube, and now smooth as butter.. Still not sure how I got the debris in between the Barrel and the Housing ![]() John Last edited by gato2 : 23rd November 2009 at 16:31. |
