Adding Crotch Strap to the rEvo

OK, I admit it, the rEvo design does have one minor flaw. No rebreather is perfect, not even Paul's

. The stock crotch strap slit provided in the lower back support is too narrow for a standard 2" webbing. So I've been diving the unit without a crotch strap until now. To be honest, coming from a technical OC world, I feel naked without one. The 1" strap is even worse, it feels (and looks) like a thong. Not being in the habit of wearing thongs on regular basis, I always wanted to get the 2" crotch strap installed. And today, I finally did it.

For the scooter and butt D-rings, I used fixed 90° low profile. I definitely like it in the back for easy clipping of reels and spools. The front one through, I may change to a standard non-fixed floppy ring after I test it in the water tomorrow.

I too am use to the 2" crotch strap with the butt d-ring for clipping off my reels.

this is a 'factory approved' mod!

I don't use that D-ring on mine, but a doubble D-ring, left and right, so I can clip side-mounts on them, and reels and...

How long a piece of webbing did you use?

I was able to push the 2inch crotch strap, that I took off my old backplate, thru the 1inch slot. If you use soft webbing, it's piece of cake, no tools required and it took about 5 mins to do.

I have one of Deep Sea Supplys side mount drings attached to it, gives me the option to side mount.

Ditto, just shove 2" webbing thru the existing slot. Works great.

Your mod is obviously more slick though Serge. Thanks for sharing.

Paul - can we have a 2" webbing slot pleeeeaaasssee???? I dont know any tech diver who wears a 1" webbing crotch strap by choice.

i just welded a belt slide on the bottom of the one inch slot. there is a pic on rbw somewhere.

I agree. It's easier to pull a 1" webbing through a 2" slit than the other way around.

Nice. That would be my second option if I had an arc welder laying around in my living room.

i did it on my ss revo when i had the bolts welded to be able to remove the harness, before paul started using the square keyed bolts. i had to open the phone book and call a welding shop,took 40 minutes all told, including traffic.

I agree that a 1" crotch strap is unacceptable for scootering. Dive Rite sells( or sold ) an adapter to fro a 1" to 2" conversion. That has worked well for me. I also added a double D ring on it for sidemounting bailouts.
