| RBW Member | First of all..hello. Before I go grab a drink and mingle with the crowed I have a few questions. Is there a list of rEvo (pronounced ARRrr-Evo or Re-vo?) instructors floating around? Can I purchase my rEvo through an instructor or does it need to be through some distributor channel? What features from the price list are already included in to the rEvo 2008? e.g will I need to purchase the WOB kits I and II, the new OPV etc? I have been, well that's my partner and I have been (read purchasing x 2) looking thinking about moving over to rebreathers. This is based on a long weekends being more of an exercise in logistics then a diving holiday (remote areas, small towns with no LDS or one that doesn't open holidays/do nitrox/have less then a 24 hr turn around to fill 2 sets of twins, 2-4 stages or decos...and I digress). Maybe a few trips down to 70m wrecks and reefs in the future as well. We have been looking at the KISS Classic as an option as well. Would be estatic with a rEvo, happy with a classic, eyeing off a pelagian or cave meg with BMCL (suffering from OTSphobia). The rEvo would require us to travel to other side of the country (Australia..long waaay away) to Sydney, not even rating on list of holiday destinations. Based on my work load I would like to tie in the course with a holiday so somewhere nicer would appeal (sorry I'm sure there are many who love the place, I happen to live in paradise and work in hell so I'm fussy as to where I spend my down time). I accept that going Rebreather is drains the bank, but I reackon the price I was quoted (times 2), I could get on plane to Europe, shake the hand of the guy who makes them, buy 2 and fly them back home and still come on top*. Not a reality as I still need to do the training before or at time of purchase (as I read somewhere). *I say this with no understanding of the local guys overheads, shipping costs or value added after sales service. The KISS, we can go up to Perth (one hour filght stay and get drunk with friends and family) and hire 2 classics, get the c-card and look for internet bargins or organise to buy 2 next time I go overseas. Still waiting for the local KISS guy to get back to me prices, but some of the pimped out second hand ones seem reasonable. Having said all that, maybe we'll just cancel our micronesia holiday and go to Thailand and by 2 pelagians (with BMCL kits) and a course. I think I'll go get some costs. There we go, I asked some question, made assumptions, put forward some opinion, had a gripe, went off topic and answered my own question. Sounds like a well rounded post to me. All thats missing is some bad humour. A horse walks into a bar and the barman says...... |
