Hose clamps

I ordered some of the Breeze stainless clamps from McMaster Carr to replace the tie-wraps on the hoses. They work great on the DSV but don't fit so well on the P-port elbows. At work I use a tool that makes clamps out of stainless wire and thought this is a great application for the wire clamps.

Here is a link to the tool used to make the clamp:
Clamptite Tool Standard 4-3/4", Tools & Equipment - GEMPLER'S

Since the clamps are lower profile than both the original tie-wraps or the Breeze clamps the stock rubber covers were removed and I replaced them with sections of bicycle inner tube to cover the clamps.

There are a couple of downsides to using this style clamp. The first is that is is not field serviceable without the tool and some new wire. The other is that to make it neat and tidy you have to fiddle with the wire and it takes some patience to get the wires all parallel to each other.

hi all, there is no reason to change anything on the elbow side: there the tye-raps work great, and need not to be changed (unless you change the elbow itself offcourse :-)

the breeze clamp is only for the DSV side!!

Re: Hose clamps

Paul,

Somehow I missed that only the DSV needed the new clamps in the notification. Even as I was cutting the tye-raps on the elbows I was wondering why it was necessary. Oh-well.

Greg, the wire does not cut into the hose, as long as the clamp is not over-tightened. There is actually more surface area under the wire clamp.

Since the tye-raps are sufficient, the wire clamps are overkill.
