![]() ![]() | Plugged Orifice i have a question, on my second dive today i noticed that i really had to add O2. checked my orifice and it is barely putting anything out. how do i clean it?????? it is not in the manual. Intermediate pressure is good. Pressure is good at before the Orifice. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Plugged Orifice Paul is off diving, hopefully he'll reply anyhow, but here's a starting point: If you get water (salt) into the connector for the 02 feed line, you run a slight risk of driving that water thru the lines and into the orifice. When it dries it makes a concrete that can block flow. Before you try to clean it, make sure it's really clogged. Take the basket out of the top CL, drop it into a bucket of water, turn on the 02, and catch a 30 second sample of the 02 delivered in a graduated glass cooking cup. Multiply x 2 and it'll be the actual flow gas. Make sure it's a real problem before you try to fix it. You might just find that the line to the orifice got kinked somehow. If you have good supply to the thing, to clean it, you willl need to carefully cut away the shrink wrap around the filter/orifice assembly, and unthread the orifice from the stack. Soak it in a solution of hat soapy water and white vinegar for a few hours and then rinse in very hot tap water and let dry. Reassemble and recheck. If it's still clogged... it'll need replacement. Assuming that it's OK, you can replace the shrink wrap at any electronics supply place. In the short term you could do without. Dave .

![]() ![]() | Re: Plugged Orifice Thanks Dave. It has gas to it I checked that already. Figured I would have to pull it apart. Just thought maybe a trick or two out their. I guess I should get a spare just in case this happens again. Can't afford to be down. especially this week got 8 more dives this week 200+. ![]() Thanks Greg

![]() ![]() | Re: Plugged Orifice it was the check valve that was stuck on it. pretty cruddy on the inside. I had to blow pretty hard on it by mouth to get it to pop. I still have to soak it its sticky. I have a quite a few hours on the unit now so i think this may become routine mantinace. You know Mel, I can not break down or else.![]() Greg

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Plugged Orifice Hi Greg, You can run the unit without the check valve. Just be sure that no water will enter the orifice (i.e. get it away from water, especially when you rinse the counter lungs, or leave it pressurized). The rEvo1 I had did not have a check valve afer the orifice and it worked. Even with a clogged orifice it worked ... at 60m! ![]() Maybe it would be wiser to change it. McMaster-Carr should have a replacement part.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Plugged Orifice Just as an FYI on grand Cayman i thought i was having an orifice problem because i was failing the closed o2 time flow test. Then i noticed i was having a very small bubbling at the o2 gauge, broke it apart and the hose connector was slightly bubbling, just twisted it and it stopped, i need a new hose there. this slight bubbling made flow twice as fast as normal. not an orifice problem, but something to consider. |
