![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Side mounting made easy Hello, With the rEvo1, I had a real backplate so adding all needed to do side-mounting was easy: plug and play. Now that I changed my rebreather, it became a little bit more complicated: where can I put the butt plate and the bungees on the splitted back-plate? For the butt-plate, the solution is quite easy: drill two holes and attach the butt-plate with some quick links like this ![]() Now the bungees. I was not satisfied with the single bungee loop I had, almost impossible to rig on the boat or on the ground, very hard to do it underwater. So I stole the idea from Dive-Rite on it's Nomad system: an bungee cord that clips on the shoulder D-ring. The other end of the bungee is equipped with a quick link and it's mounted on the upper back-plate like this: ![]() ![]() Putting a BO tank is now very easy, just put the bottom clip on the butt-plate and place the bungee around the neck of the bottle. Attach the clip on the shoulder D-ring and that's it! Il will ask a friend to make some photos with the stages attached and will post them next week.

The red plastic cover is a heat-shrink tube. I'm using plastic ties to secure the bungee.

Do you actually loop the bungie once around the tank neck or just go around the outside of the tank to hold it to you?Imagine: the bungee is tied behind your shoulders, goes around the bottle neck and is hooked on the shoulder D-ring. (I use the armadillo currently, always looking at alternatives though) |

Hi Ben,(I use the armadillo currently, always looking at alternatives though) Around the neck, it is secured by the valve and the second stage.

![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy Hi stephane, Instead of using a butt-plate, I use "floating" sidemount. I have a 12 ltr carbondive with Nitrox and a S80 with trimix 15/50. Both have a floating ass ! I have installed two new D ring on my belt but in the front and not on the side. I clip the carabiners on those drings and the tanks float side mounted. The acces to O2 and dil add buttons is very easy, my arms are above the bottles. For the bungees, I use the free hole of the dive rite harness just below the two bolts (see your picture 3). Double bungee. I just put a small rope linked to plastic D ring of the dive rite harness to be able to find them. I did several dives like that, very nice. Acces to regulators are very easy, they stand on the bottom face of the tank and you find them right away. In caves, you have to be carefull in some restrictions, not to grab nasty stuff inthere. I have still to work out this point. Some pictures of a test dive in a Belgium mine (35 m deep ) ![]() ![]() ![]() I have never tried an Armadillo system so I cannot compare Take care Bruno |
