![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy Salut Stephane Hi use a Nomad butt plate rigged on my back plate with cave line and 2 systems, depends of what I've got in my dive box: Same as yours but with one stretch tube running under the wing, so I can dismantle it if I don't use it. Or 2 loops tied on each sides of my rig, in the plate holes, I've to build a special webbing instead of Works like a charm on my OC rig and of course in Sidemount diving It's a long way to build a CCR by my own ![]() Cheers! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy Did my first sidemount-dive today - ![]() I've mounted an armadillo but-plate bought from Nortec, by drilling through the backplate quite low. This means it fits on the front, so I dont have to cut it up like Dave Cooper (http://www.rebreatherworld.com/revo-...tml#post132065). The plate sits perfectly with the attachments a 3-5cm lower than the bottom of the rEvo. Have not mounted the bungy completely yet, but in order to try it out, I took some narrow bungy and just used the upper hole in the Oxy-Wing, under the webbing, and the next hole lower. Just did an figure-eight knot to fasten. Tied a small retrival-line to chest d-ring. Stage is a 7l with standard stage kit where I extended the leash on the lowest dogclip. Did some dryruns first - and it sucked. What the hell, we're diving anyway, might as well keep it on and see if it really becomes easier in water.... Splashed with stage in normal hookup. fumbled a little to get it on the butt-plate (Still attached to chest d-ring). Retireval line to long, wich got a bit tangled. Sorted it out, and voila the stage tucked completely away from legs and belly. Felt very streamlined, and I practically could not feel it was there! For the first time ever I did not mind the stage. 2nd. dive was even better - did some trimming og the retirevalline and harness. Hookup is easy, and I just replaced to normal config before ascending the shotline. I do feel the the regulator on the stage is further away and harder to deploy, so BOV or necklaced reg becomes even more imperative. Now the only thing is thoose rEvodreams, wich are in the way when you sink to the seabed to look under plates and scrap - will have to do something about them ![]() When I get this completely sorted I'll post some pics if ppl are interested. Conclusion: Sidemount rulez ![]() Nicolai

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy How are you guys feeling about side mounting when doing wreck penetrations? It would seem that with the bailout bottle against your side you can't easily tuck it below you if you are going through a tight restriction. I'm still slinging my bottles on the harness and its easy to tuck it in for tight restrictions but have not tried the side mount on most of these types of dives. Any comments?

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy Quote: I have never tried an Armadillo system so I cannot compare I use it for a while, "à la Cedric Verdier". Difficulty is not with the bungee, specially if you have a right valve tank and a left valve tank, but more to clip moustif on the butt plate. With dry gloves it's sometime... grrrgnnnmmphrrrr ! ![]()

| Closed Circuit Divers Aus Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Side mounting made easy Hi Guys, I went through all this not so long back and with the help of a few list members came up with a great way to attach the tanks. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebre...t-bungees.html The only time I clip the stages off now is if I only take one tank. If you sidemount it the weight on one side only tries to roll you over. The "Packer Rings" are the KEY to the whole system and once you try it you'll never go back. ![]() ![]() Regards, Lance

![]() | Re: Side mounting made easy Stephane, Caverkevin developped this tail plate with Tobin : https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=1277 It goes on your crotch strap. This makes it easy to clip and reach the back, it sticks out enough I can easily reach it and it it still not an entaglement hasard. On another note, make sure your clips are working well. With thick gloves in cold water having good clips and the good size clip is the key. Then we just put bungies through the plate for sidemounting the tanks. (I have also used the tail plate on OC when attaching stages, it makes them more streamlined and I have earned 4 minutes while scootering to the Hinkle) ![]() Last edited by Rubis : 27th April 2008 at 19:01. |

My crotch strap is only 1 inch wide so it won't fit. For the clips, I had to change to bigger ones as I'm using dry gloves now. ![]()
