Video of Robs birthday dive

SDTechDiving

Its the first video on top (Catalina)

We did some wrecks at 170' on the first dive then slid over to try and do a submarine docking station in 210'. Conditions werent so good on the island but we had fun!

Re: Video of Robs birthday dive

Although conditions weren't great, it was still a blast of a trip and these rEvo's worked flawlessly.

Love these units.

Re: Video of Robs birthday dive

Subs would pull up to it and dock, think cold war era. I dont have all the details on hand but it was a pretty cool contraption. Anyhow some of it is still down there. Its an OK dive there are better ones on the island

I think you mean Sub Tower. It was a structure from which submariners practiced emergency escapes, it was for training and when the Navy was done with it, they just dumped it off Catalina.

Ship Rock is a much much better dive.

Re: Video of Robs birthday dive

Silverstien (or some one else) may chime in with the correct information ... but, to my fuzzy recolection. It was used to find ways to rescue personnel from a stricken sub. And it was used for other training purposes

Its basically a big ass crane that is now laying on its side, and a bunch of crazy big concrete mooring blocks.

Andrew Ainslie posted a video here, or at TDS. If I can find the link, I'll post it. Otherwise do some searching

Bill beat me to it ... but it wasnt dumped off, it was always there. I guess in the past the crane was upright (underwater)
