![]() | Re: Travelling from Switzerland with my new rEvo Sorry should have said where I am. I live just outside Cambridge (about 20 mins from Stansted airport) Thanks for all the info. I had discounted Easy Jet as they don't take cylinders and the baggage allowance is rubbish and excess baggage is extortionate. BA look reasonable I would have to leave from Gatwick but they do take tanks and are ok with large bags Quote: From November 2008, a flat fee of £25 GBP will be applied to bags weighing more than 23kg (51lbs). This charge is to cover the additional handling that bags weighing over 23kg (51lbs) can attract. Until this charge is implemented, we will continue to accept a single piece of baggage weighing up to 32kg (70lbs) without charge. Please note that we will not accept a bag heavier than 32kg (70lbs) as checked baggage. Although driving does look the simplest and I can chuck all my dive junk in the car but it is a sodding long way.Cheers, Sam |

![]() | Re: Travelling from Switzerland with my new rEvo I have to look for a plane Genève/Bruxelles. Genève airport website says : "diving tanks OK if empty". EasyJet website say "diving tank forbiden". I phone to EasyJet, not "easy" to have a human, but when I found one she said me "diving tanks forbiden". Even enmpty? "Diving tanks forbiden!" I also confirm that Easyjet does not accept tank (even with valve opened...). I had a tought fight with them... I used the post office on the basement of Geneva airport to ship them. Considering the price of Easyjet, it is bearable. So if you want to take EasyJet, be sure you can... There is an other airport closer my house, Lyon airport (Satolas). I've try Air France. Air France website says : "diving tanks forbidden". I phone to Air France (there is a little more human than in EasyJet). A women said me : there is a possibility for "diving equipment". That need to declare it, tanks are permited if emptry and regulators not fited. Max weight of the equipement is 20 kg (not included the ordinary free 20 kg, so total permited is 40 kg), price is 20 (twenty) euro one way (Lyon Bruxelles). I think I'll take this solution. Like Jacques, I also called Air France. their freight division kindly confirmed that tank opened are just fine. Air France flight to Tokyo was just fine too. No problem at all. There is a special option for scuba diving gears (sports). But if you have a Gold or Platinium Mile card it can be free (up to 20 Kg of overweight for Platinium). I did not pay anything for Tokyo. Cheers, Nicolas

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travelling from Switzerland with my new rEvo Sorry - a bit late here, just got back from a trip. I flew Liverpool/Geneva with Easy Jet in early March. I had no problems with the empty (and de-valved) cylinders; it wasn't even mentioned. You will find, however that the weight allowances aren't all they could be and you'll end up paying an excess. Compared to the cost of the unit, this isn't much it also isn't as much as ferry / fuel / extra accommodation combo I wouldn't have thought.Martin |
