Hi Everyone,

As Andy mentioned, I received a BOV that has some leaking due to o-ring issues. Andy is currently working on fixing the o-ring issue. As soon as I received the BOV back from Andy we will do a review and get it up for everyone.

Sorry for the delay everyone!

Paul

Any news on this yet?

Re: Pelagian BOV on the rEvo

Hi Mark,

Andy has a few days layover in LA from his trip to Miami so he will be dropping off my BOV in San Diego next week. We should be able to get a few dives in with him and check out the Pelagian DCCCR as well.

I'll update then.

Paul

Hi Marv,

The o-rings that Andy has ordered have not come in, they were delayed. I'm sure that Andy will update this thread on the status of the o-rings once he is back in Thailand. As of right now, the correct o-rings are not available.

The one he is bringing with him has thicker o-rings, making it difficult to turn, but it is supposed to seal properly. Andy will be here in San Diego on Tuesday so I will know for sure then.

Hi Marv,

Just confirming what Paul wrote. Actually the thickness is right, but I am not happy with the durometer (hardness) in the current orings.

Cheers,

Andy

Re: Pelagian BOV on the rEvo

Andy came to San Diego this week and hand delivered the BOV to me. We also got a chance to check out the Pelagian DCCR, get some dives in, and have lots of great laughs and discussions over beer and food

So here is the update:

The BOV does not leak with the supplied o-rings, but as Andy said, the durometer of the o-ring is not what Andy will be using. The BOV passes negative tests on the rEvo, and checking the integrity of the loop shows no leaks with the BOV attached. The o-rings in my BOV, with the higher durometer, is supposed to make the valve more difficult to turn. However, I found that I could turn the valve during a dive with one hand. When the proper o-rings come in, I will probably not change the o-rings until the next maintanence is done.

The deepest I tried the BOV was at 170 fsw and it breathed just like any good second stage should. It was effortless and certainly made bailing out very quick - much quicker then having to remove the loop and get my reg on the bailout bottle. I only have three dives on it so far but it has performed well.

My next goal is to compare it directly with the Golem Gear BOV that Tyler has on his rEvo, which has the new valves on it. I'll write something up as soon as we have done the comparison.

Also, there are now two Pelagian BOVs on rEvo mCCRs in San Diego. Rob also purchased one - I'm sure that he will chime in with his observations/opinions.

Paul

Re: Pelagian BOV on the rEvo

I'd love to chime in with my thoughts on it, but it is not even on my rEvo yet! Once I get it installed and a dive or 2 on it I'll put something up... going to be at least a week before I can get in the water with my work schedule.

It does look nice though.

Re: Pelagian BOV on the rEvo

Sorry for slacking in updating this thread. I still have not done an in-water comparison between the Pelagian and GG BOV. It might be a few weeks before that gets done.

But in the meantime, here are some pictures comparing the two. Sorry for the poor quality of the images!
