You have few options as most "close by" airports are at least 2 hours away if you plan to get a rental car. I will give you times driving in traffic.

San Diego is a ONE runway airport. It is the easiest to get through, get your luggage, get your rental car, or get a shuttle straight to your hotel. The boat ramps we will be launching from a within a few miles of the airport as well.

SNA - Orange County (2 hours)
LAX - Los Angeles (3 hours)
ONT - Ontario (2 hours)

I'd fly into SAN personally, its a quick airport to get in and out of and you're in San Diego, instead of having to drive a few hours from another airport.

I just found out we have a serious conflict in the diving schedule.

Not really, just a great concert that I go to every year, full of good music, tailgate parties, beer and margaritas.

Anyone up for hitting this concert after the first day of diving and getting totally shitfaced? The concert is 20 minutes from San Diego and is a party that you won't forget.
