Gill,

The two hoses that loop through each other are actually LP hoses that feed the CL's with diluent and O2. The HP hoses travel up the side of the canister and over the shoulder to the SPGs.
in either case, such a sharp angle for hoses that stay in one position is sub optimal in my book but I don't know how likely a rupture is in such a situation. just thought I'd share a thought.

Re: Decluttering The rEvo

I'd like to know if this does cause undue wear on the LP hoses. I know that the hose-routing on my OC doubles regulators had sharp bends in them as do all my stage and bailout bottles (HP hoses to SPGs).

I haven't experienced any failures or know of anyone diving doubles who has experience a hose failure because of this. But it certainly wouldn't make for a happy dive if one of the LP hoses blew.

I've had both a LP and a HP hose failure on the rEvo. LP Bouyancy Compensator hose formed a bubble at fitting. Hp hose did the same ... both started bubbling, both were replaced asap! No problems since!

Re: Decluttering The rEvo

well i hate to bring the 8000lb gorillia into the room, but i remember george being asked basically the same question about stage bottles and the bendnig of the gauge hose to the valve on stage bottles. his reply was something like, i leave them in the cave for months and they're fine.

in any event as long as you inspect and maintain them, shouldnt be a problem.

Eric - you've had your hoses fail on you? Do you have pictures of where they failed? I'd like to know.

Regarding what GI3 says, it has been my experience that the bent hoses haven't been a problem and a lot of OC double divers have sub-optimal hose routing/bending due to limitations on the first stages. I haven't heard any issues with this myselft, but seeing that MM71 had problems on two hoses it may be something to consider.

Paul, I think the LP hose is still in the garage. I'll show it to you the next time I'm out there.

w've had some lp-hoses (the short ones on the bottem) that gives tiny bubbles in cold water but not in normal/warm: seems the clamping of the tube is not always the same

I, like many OC divers have a 15cm/6inch HP hose with a sharp 180 degree bend in it, for months, and months, and months on my stage tanks.

I also stow my LP reg hose down the side of the stage tank like many others, with a sharp 180 degree bend in the hose. As an OC diver, this LP hose is regularly removed from it's storage place when I hit deco stops, and thus straightening the bend for the duration of that deco mix on that dive. The hose is then re-stowed with a 180 degree bend. So, bending, straightening and bending again in cold unforgiving water.

I have never had a problem at any of those bend points. Any hose failures I have seen have all been at the joint.

I had this also, but with the long inflator-hose. Thought is was the O-ring, and removed hose, cleaned O-ring, remounted. The no leaks. But now its leaking more, and its clearly at the end of the Hose-Crimp (discovered during dive yesterday).
I think the kinks from the original Apeks-DS4's makes it worse. Just mounted the new type Apeks-rEvo 1st.stage with a LOT less kink at the hose-crimps, so the hose was straithend, and this probably aggrevated the bad crimp...

Same Issue at O2-side, but its holding for now.

Paul, anything you want me todo with the defect inflator-hose?
AS you know I'm on my own regarding hoses very soon, but I would like to be able to bring it back to original state, so I'll need a new one.

Right now the rEvo is grounded, and anyway I'm on OC for the next 3 weeks
