rEvo's in Hawaii

Rob, Krystal and I did a "Adventure Day" with Jim of Konaquatica. Krystal was on OC, but Rob and I brought our rEvo's with us. We rented 19's and 40s from Jim and also got some sorb from him -- long story on the sorb and I'll let Rob tell it.

The Adventure Day was three dives:

(1) Auau canyon. Of the three, Auau canyon is definitely a spot I'd like to explore more - its large ridges of coral encrusted lava flow that drop into the depths, with gulleys and canyons between the tall ridges. Pretty impressive structure, especially with the good visibility. We hit 180 fsw here and worked our way up. It gets much deeper here and very quickly - I'd love to come back here to explore the structures here, lava tubes and caves might exist here.

(2) Rob's Reef. This was our second dive and was the least favorite dive of mine. It was about 50 fsw and is basically fields of coral and lots of fish. A paradise for photographers, I'm sure, but Rob and I got bored after a little while. You have to understand the type of diving that we are used to to understand why we felt this way - you guys do.

(3) Long Lava Tube. This spot was shallow as well, but instead of coral fields, rather large pinnacles and ridges, interspersed with gulleys and small canyons, surrounded the area. As the name implies, there are lots of swim throughs and caves. It was like a play-ground and it was fun going through the small caves. At the end of the dive, when everyone else surfaced, Rob and I decided to explore a little bit more and we found a nice long lava tube - probably 60-70 feet and you needed lights, it was dark in there. We made our way through this cave until we exited out the other side. It is pretty cool to swim through a dark cave and exit into sun-lit blue waters.

Here are a few pictures:
