Sorry Mrs. Sutton but i don't undestand why do you have your onboard diluyent in the block
The rest of the system looks perfect and clear... but...

Thanks
Mikel-deko

Two reasons:

(1): Often I carry no offboard diluent at all (shallow diving/air diluent). So then it's set to "onboard" and it feeds the rig and the BOV. No cylinder is then plugged into the quick connection.

(2): Even when carrying offboard gas, it allows access to onboard gas to BOV for bailout OC deco. Then I might use perhaps 50/50 nitrox onboard for suit inflation and for BOV deco. Works SCC also if needed (has lots of 02 in it...). Whatever feeds the rig also feeds the BOV, so a "good gas" is always available to the BOV while the onboard gas (air or nitrox) always feeds the suit.

I can't answer for Dave, but I have seen the rig/system and here is how I understand it.

<snip>

Dave, I hope that's about right (considering that I'll be diving a similar set up soon ).

Almost right, and exactly so:

(1): The valve simply allows onboard to feed the block, anytime a live source is on the QD, that gas *is* feeding the block.

(2): The "Other Rig" is all ready to go, the new BOV regulator (Mares) came today, is installed, a few little parts arrive tomorrow and we're all set. It's set with the wing with OC inflator on the right side connected to 02 thru CEJN fitting, BOV with CEJN connected to the gas block, and tomorrow the onboard/offboard block will be done. I even ordered a CEJN nipple for your drysuit valve. We're gonna be 100% compatable... plug into each other and share gas if needed, and both rigs are set up 100% the same. No guesswork. Hope we can get the other local guys all on the same page too.

Need to get one more Octo-Plus and the Mark-15 will also be exactly the same setup. One way for all rigs... so we each understand each others system. And before the end of the year I expect you to give me back the loaner rig so I can sell it, and for you to replace it with a rEvo.....

Just to kibbitz the valve on the block doesn't switch but instead isolates the onboard diluent from the rig and the valve on the offboard bottle isolates that from the rig. So you can feed from either or both sources.

Exactly right.Alternative is disconnecting the feed hose to isolate the offboard gas, so that gas is still available to the OC regulator rigged on the bottle (as a stage bottle). You could turn off the cylinder as well, but generally it's left open. Heck, from a practical standpoint, unless something goes wrong it's basically "offboard to rig and BOV and onboard to drysuit and never fool with it".

If you play with mismatched IP's you can get the system to auto-switch from offboard to onboard as offboard is exhausted..... but I'd prefer to retain full control.

Great!! I'm going to have to find myself a nice friendly loan officer . Looking forward to it.

Cheers,

That is how my system turned out. Unfortuneately this was by accident rather than by design.

Be blobbed anyway for being such a huge and effective influence on Rebreather plumbing.
