![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rEvo Show and Tell As many are, I am eager to learn more about the Revo. It appears to be a very interesting design. I am also eager to know who is doing the reporting: manufacturer, manufacturer's representative or unbiased 3rd party. For me, the frame-of-reference for the report provides level-setting details as I consider the report. This is not to slight Dave or suggest that his evaluation is advertising hype, merely to suggest that disclosure of a manufacturer/design contributor/tester relationship is best shared at the onset of a report, rather than mid-stream or after the fact. Suggesting that a particular piece of equipment is superior carries different weight if one is a design-contributor or manufacturer-tester than it does if one is independent. With that said, I would still like to learn more about Dave's experience with the Revo, particularly why he's ready to sell off his Mk 15's for the Revo when he's spent the majority of his time here on Rebreather World extolling the unassailable virtues of the MK 15.x series. ![]() | Re: rEvo Show and Tell Flippin 'eck! I turn my back for a day and all hell lets loose. As I'm in the 'fortunate' position of being new to rebreathers, whichever unit I first train on will provide my all my rebreather training to date, so no problems for me regarding crossover training / unit specific certification etc. However, it would be nice to have training available in the UK. When travel to Geneva, accommodation and expenses are added to the course cost, it's going to add minimum £1000 / £1200 to the cost of the rEvo. Admittedly, picking the unit up from Switzerland might mean that UK duty could be sidestepped, but that's a risk and is by no means guaranteed. I'm also going to do what I can to try and help expedite the ratification of the rEvo by BSAC, because it's current non-approved status is something of a showstopper for me. It'd be a lot easier to just give £4k to someone like Rich Stevenson in the UK and walk away with a KISS and MOD1 - trouble is the rEvo looks so good . I look forward to reading more about how the rEvo dives.Matt Last edited by MattW : 23rd April 2007 at 08:48. |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: rEvo Show and Tell Feedback from divers doing the testing as well as regular owners of units is always intresting and welcome. I for one would really like to see some scrubber duration testing done on the rEvo (to CE protocol), same as with the Sport Kiss' scrubber. Both are different from the run of the mill axials, and I truly wonder how well they would hold up to the test regimen, and how they compare to other units/designs that have been tested. Truly hope that Paul will find the time and money to get that done. Same for Jetsam, too.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rEvo Show and Tell Short DIVE report, which is what I *hope* is of interest to most of ya'll..... Dove with Mark (Diverklondike) and Ken (Ken) and killed four birds with one stone. Mark got to dive his new back mounted Inspiration CL's, I got to dive the rEvo in deeper water than before, and Ken got checked out on his new (to him) LAR-V by yours truly. Plus we all got to play with Kens new COOL scooter (another $5K "need".... I'm sorry I played with it, but now I *need* one... THIS rig is a keeper. Good stuff. Paul did a great job, build quality is super, and it's a winner. It'll be my main rig for a while, I suspect. More in a week+ when I get back. The North Atlantic Beckons!! Dave Dave, Mark (Diverklondike), Dan (Dan the Man) and I all had a great time diving and breaking down the rEvo! We all had some super cool toys to play with in advance of this year’s NE dive season. Dave was testing a bad-ass rEvo and Mark had his equally bad-ass Inspiration BMCL hybrid. I was debuting my new X-scooter CSI at Dutch Springs and learning the intricacies of the LAR V from Dave. Thanks Dave for the lessons! Short report of the rEvo: Dave's rEvo is one slick unit. The chassis was an example of functional and equally artistic metal work that allows the user to mount anything, almost anywhere - in mere seconds . Underwater, we managed to shoot video and stills of a unit which had perfect trim, in addition to a very streamlined profile. The addition buttons were in intuitive, fixed locations vs. areas, which could be juxtaposed out of position. Dave also demonstrated the ease of scrubber change. The 10 -second scrubber change is something, which could be hugely appreciated on a bouncing boat, or in reality by anyone dealing with spilled sorb, or anyone who has futzed around with kegs of Sofnolime. I am sure dive boat captains would be quite happy to see this modular innovation which lessens the possibility of spilled sorb during scrubber changes. The dual display HUD and handsets provided info. and cylinder valves were easy to access. All part of a super cool package. During post dive analysis I looked for moisture in the scrubber and CL. I saw none. Clean, clean, clean. I'd have to say this unit is easy to manage, cleanly trimmed and well thought out from multiple aspects. It has me thinking about selling one of my kits and moving up. Who knows…you may see an ad here shortly. We’ll be posting some pics. and movies at some point in the very near future. BTW - what happened to all of my little reputation boxes? Where'd they go - just kidding! -----whoa! That was fast! Thank you! Could I get one colored in rEvo yellow please!Last edited by Ken : 23rd April 2007 at 11:15. |

IT, let me know, as it usually only requires an hour or two on a bar stool. Don't dignify idiots by responding. Oh what kinda scooter?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rEvo Show and Tell Here are two pics. of Dave on the rEvo! Very cool unit! FYI - The scooter used was a CSI - X -Scooter short body. We had a lot of toys in the water that day! It's defintely a scooter that fills a lot niches for technical divers launching off boats, or conducting survey work underwater. http://www.dive-xtras.com/ |
