We still don't have a complete answer for the mounting arm. The HUD comes with an adjustable arm, but there's no screw hole on the Inspiration mouth piece to use. The only screw is actually a part of the open and close assembly. On another note what cable does it use? Looks like the Beldon cable that the VR3 uses?We will either buy some Vision HUD holders, or have something made. But if you have access to a HUD holder it will work now. The Shearwater GF plugs in to monitor all three sensors and that is complete now with the Beanie adaptor. There's more at Shearwater Research Inc. - Computers for open ciruit and rebreathers If it is or is a similar diameter it will fit in the Vision HUD cable managment clips ![]()

It is in fact exactly the same cable. The VR3 uses a microphone cable, and because of the very high strand count is it a good cable for any application where there is a lot of movement like a microphone or a HUD If it is or is a similar diameter it will fit in the Vision HUD cable managment clips ![]() ![]() Cable management clips. That would be cool. I just wrap the cable around the hose. That keeps it out of the way and also allows for stretching the hoses. I have done some more playing with the HUD arm. You can attach the included KISS HUD arm to the Inspiration with a hose clamp (jubilee clamp). It seems to work fine. A bit of black tape even makes it look nice. I hope to have pictures later today. | Proper Boffin ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Shearwater HUD is shipping Bruce, Interested in how you have spliced the HUD into the Inspiration cells? I see that there are 2 cables entering the red cap on the cell, does this mean that you need to crimp new molex connectors onto the 2 cables (HUD and Inspo loom)? I was expecting some sort of Y-Cables to be used to effectively "double-up" the cell outputs. Or is this not preferable as there are then twice the number of mechanical connections in the circuit? Thanks Simon |

Thanks Simon http://www.rebreather.ca/FAQ.htm#q4 There are lots of other ways you could do it, and there is nothing stopping you from connecting it more permanently. I did it this way because it is simple. If you decide to remove it later, it just comes apart and your Inspiration is back in factory condition. I didn't do it for the picture (it's a buddies Inspiration), but I would probably put some shrink wrap on to tidy it up. You can do the whole installation in about 20 minutes and the only tool you need is the Inspiration tool to get the old piece out. And I have to say that the Beanie adaptor is brilliant. My buddies unit has the giant block to get access to a fourth sensor. We replaced it with the Beanie adaptor and now it's way cleaner, the sensor is right in the air path, and best of all, you can take the sensors out in about 2 minutes without any tools. Even without the HUD, this is a very nice upgrade IMHO.

I sold the first 5 before I had pictures. This is using the standard arm that is the same as what is shipped on the KISS. On the KISS, it screws into the front of the mouthpiece. Here it clamps on. There are more pictures at my web site. The first Shearwater GF for the Inspiration was delivered to the customer today. It will be monitoring all three sensors and providing integrated decompression with voting logic and averaging.

I thought you were not doing that ? ![]() Also, could the HUD stem be adjusted to different height levels by removing some of the links ? ADDited: Never mind on the first question, I read it elsewhere that you supplied it via the Beanie adapter.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Shearwater HUD is shipping Yes, it's via the Beanie adaptor. It is similar to other computer integrations to the Inspiration except that it uses the Inspiration sensors and monitors all three of them. You could add either the HUD or the GF. Theoretically you could add both, but I would recommend against it. It would be too messy. Yes, the links are independent and removable.

Bruce,Just an idea from looking at the Sheartwater HUD holder... I know that your HUD won't fit the APD HUD holder since your HUD has a smaller OD. Personally, I think a split plastic sleeve slide over your HUD to increase the OD allowing it to fit the APD holder might be more elegant.
