Re: Rouse Memorial Plaque Missing

I solo'd out to the Berman Room at 3400' and through the Hinkle Sun AM and can confirm they are indeed gone. On a more positive note, I was told by a reliable source at DEMA that both plaques had been removed by well known divers and are due to be replaced in a more secure location soon, with interested parties being informed of the new location. I do not know the names of the divers involved, but will attempt to find out what is really going on.

There have been many thefts in recent years, including other memorials...so this is not out of the realm of possibility. Friends were supposed to make dives today looking for other memorials in more obscure locations to confirm they are still in place.

More to follow.

Richard,

Thanks for the info. Evie heads to Truk this week and will be out of the loop for a few weeks. Maybe you can have these guys get in touch with me.

Thanks
Joel

While I earnestly HOPE that you are correct, this doesn't really seem plausible to me. If "well known divers" with good intentions were planning on doing this, wouldn't both common sense and decency tell them that before removing/relocating the plaques they should at the very least discuss it with the bereaved widow and mother, as well as the team that originally put the plaque in place? You simply don't just relocate memorial markers on a whim.

Again, I hope that your information is accurate and we can all be happy when everything is cleared up....but if I were a family member left in the dark about this "project" I'd be royally furious.

Agreed. Seems like poor execution of the plan...for now, I am waiting to hear if this is/was the case or if they have been stolen.

You will all know more as soon as I do.

Re: Rouse Memorial Plaque Missing

Looks like Jordan beat me to it here!

Happy to report that the Rouse Memorial is back in place, per real-time intel from NFL.

Friends were diving to search the back of the cave for areas it might have been stashed and were surprised to find it back in place during their dive.

No info available on the other two missing plaques...yet.

Re: Rouse Memorial Plaque Missing

this is great news, i just hope the people who took it feel suitably ashamed for taking it with the consent of the family.

Re: Rouse Memorial Plaque Missing

OUTSTANDING -- thanks guys for staying on top of this. I've dispatched a message to Evie that it's been put back in place.

Thanks again for all your support on this.

Cheers

Re: Rouse Memorial Plaque Missing

Yo officer Joel,
As per our phone call, sorry I am unable to ID the perp. Trust me, if I knew who it was, I would post their name on all of the forums so that everyone would know who it was.
