![]() | Re: Beyond The Blue - Important Announcement Well other than it suits 97% (93% if one listens to apple) of the market Simple business guys. It would be great if Ron can accommodate you guys but it really would be as a favour due to the ever shrinking non Windows OS market share. Nice try at baiting but surely even you would agree that a PDF file would be easier to release out to the market. It's multi format, can be printed easily and is a better way forward for BTB mag ![]()

![]() ![]() | BTB Digital - Follow Up No.1 Folks - just to clear up a few points/answer a few questions raised. 1. The download that is on the website is a SAMPLE/TRIAL only - it is a taste of the magazine to come and obviously we hope to improve issue on issue. 2. The first issue WILL be available for PC & MAC download 3. We aim to have a pdf version available so that you can print out any sections that you want, or for those who believe an exe. file will kill their computer. 4. Most of the adverstisers who've supported me over the past nine years have jumped on board for the switch - it saves then a few quid and if they actually get into the opportunities they can have some really stylish advertising at far less than hard-copy display advertising. 5. I agree totally about the look and feel of a magazine in your hands, I was like a kid everytime I opened the first box back from the printers - Do I have the same level of anticipation to see the first full digital issue ? I think so - and I hope that's not just that the damn thing works! If any of you are into your House Music/DJ-ing then you might want to look at House Music Magazine - Free Subscription to Our House Digital Download Magazine - this is the team that are building BTB and they have a full free download magazine. Though once again to clarify I WON'T be asking for you to register. Hope this helps - thanks for the support Ron |

| Rebreather World Writer ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Beyond The Blue - Important Announcement Ron As a Beyond The Blue subscriber, first of all let me wish you the best luck in your project. During 2,5 years I've had an online diving magazine, issued out every 2 months, with a free download. Things went well, but the pressure for going on print form increased every month. In January, I've finally made up the decision of changing and I'm working now on the third "paper" issue. The sucess has been huge. Loads of divers didn't know the online version, and even among those who regularly downloaded the magazine, many told me they hated to have to read it online or spend a lot to print it. I've just returned from BTS in New Jersey, where I took a couple of magazines, and showed them around. Despite not being able to read the portuguese, everyone enjoyed it and felt sorry for not understanding the articles. You can't do this with an online magazine. In what concerns advertising, I don't know the market in the UK, but in Portugal the diving industry, not having big incomes from their work, aren't keen to invest in a web format. Environmental issues are important of course but among 4000 online readers I've just had one who stated that as an argument for not subscribing the paper issue. Please do not take my opinion as a negative thought, I just think it's funny that Beyond the Blue takes the opposite step I took. Again, the best wishes for you and your team, and feel free to contact me if you need something. Susana (aka Sue) |

![]() ![]() | Re: Beyond The Blue - Important Announcement Susana, Thanks for your kind thoughts - the first thing we did before taking this decision is to go to the advertisers with the plan -gauge their interest and support - and then see if we had a viable plan. Needless to say when you try something that is quite different you have to spell it out in easy terms - "no it's not a pdf mag" - "no it's not like click per view on a website" but I think that advertisers always understand the sum "More Readers - Cost Saving = Better Deal". I think some advertisers are just getting the "internet thing" as they start to see the percentages of their turnover increase from the web. Taking something brand new to market would be pretty difficult, advertisers are a pretty conservative bunch on the whole and I suppose until you've had a few copies out they can't really get a handle on you - probably where we benefit from having had a prescense in print. Best of luck with your mag - it's a lonely old road - but worth the journey! Ron Ron |
