Reputation Updated - Please Read about updates to Reputation

I rebuilt the Reputation scores yesterday for the site.

It has rebuilt them with the latest rules e.g. you get less rep points every time you are blobbed and you need more points to get more blobs.

So you might well look at your reputation and think it has gone down (it has) but so has every ones across the site the same amount.

I will put my hand up and admit I did not quite realise this was going to happen this way but it is nothing to worry about and is consistant.

It isn't even across the board, The rep list order has changed considerably..

Is there some kind of posted scale to give a relative indication of how many points means what? I mean, is 200 considered poor, okay, good, great, etc?

Yes, but as Stuart mentioned (if I understood him correctly), the scale has been changed.

Regardless, this is similar to "Monopoly money" or "New Orleans plastic beads" guys... Nice to receive, but can't buy food/dive gear with...

I actually gained 3 points: from 256 to 259! Great, I am on my way of becoming an Internet diving legend!!!

It is consistant when you consider how it works..

Imagine in the old days you got rep power of 10 for being a member 10 days - so after 20 days you gave someone some rep they would get 20 reps off you.

But now to get a rep power of 10 you have to be a member for 100 days so when the rep got recalculated you would be giving much less.

It is the same for the other 2 factors - number of posts and the rep you own. So the forumales have changed but they have changed consistantly for everyone.

Why not get rid of it?

On most forums rep score represents the volume of chanty-rastling (Scottishism: the noise produced by sloshing around a half-filled piss-pot) or the number of jokes you've posted.

Generally, most forum members know who the biggest chanty-rastlers are and who the people worth listening to are. As a means of feedback on what one writes, I know I'm a twat, I don't need to be told. I imagine this applies to most people.

Speaking for myself, I only green blob people I like. Even if someone I don't like says something I agree with I just can't bring myself to green them
