![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Buy a Russian REbreather off ebay? Ahhh... but for the good old pre-Ebay days: Imagine this: A pair of 40 foot containers arriving with 50 IDA-71, 24 AKA-60, 24 IDA-59, 6 IDA-64, a half dozen IDA-76, 12 KN-3 02 pumps, 12 KN-4 02 pumps, a dozen diving helmets, a divers hand-air-pump, 40 diving suits, a huge pile-o-parts, a pair of IDA-55's (for me), 10 AVM-2 SCUBA sets, 10 AVM-3 SCUBA sets, a Protei scooter, a GAZ-69 army jeep (drove it outa the container), and 6 Ural motorcycles with sidecars in huge wooden crates. ..... Yay!! Had to wire all the cash (lots) *in advance* and then waited 8 weeks for the containers. Bemusement at customs. Hassle with trucker. And then!! The first IDA-71's ever in the USA and it all began. You guys have it good! ![]() Now we have a worldwide population of at least 100 Frankies from guys that have sent me notes, probably another 100 from guys who never said "Hi", and no accidents so far that I know of on the rigs. That's a good track record. Dave, Franken-Rigs' Proud Daddy.

Yes, a *really dumb* thing to say with the automated NSA systems ferreting out things like that for analysis. Our friend might be having a little chat with two unsmiling guys in a blue suburban with tinted windows before long... We did import and operate the MiG's (still do actually) and complied with all State Department and ATF regs, which was hard work. I'm proud to say we did it all above board and never had anything but a smile from the government. Dave

![]() ![]() | Re: Buy a Russian REbreather off ebay? I too bought an IDA from Ebay, and all went smoothly. The seller was dshop2005 (Latvia), and he communicated very well and the goods came in time. I even had one replacement part posted later free of charge when I asked if he had it!! I have now bought four IDA-59's from Sergey and all has gone nicely. First time I used moneybookers.com for buying one unit, and then I bought three units and used direct bank transfer (EU internal transfer) because moneybookers.com didn't allow me for that big transfer. As a curiosity, one of the scrubbers was still filled with O3! ![]() http://www.techdiver.ws/IDA-59/Russian_O3.jpg Matti Finland |

![]() | Re: Buy a Russian REbreather off ebay? You might try to preserve it and contact the Smithsonian Institute to see if they want the stuff for their collection! First get a piece of scrap steel and put a little on it and add water! ![]()
