Your Boris is a fine machine made by a good manufacture and for the price ought to breath for you. Trying something once on the surface does not make a valid test and the only time I have seen it breath bad was when someone over inflated it on the surface. This was normally done by someone new to rebreathers but anyone can have a bad day.

People, People,…Please,…Can’t we all just get along, without unit bashing? We have all chosen our particular machines for our own reasons. And, feel free to express the good and the bad features of your unit or any other that you have dove. But to say you would not dive a particular one, after a few silly surface breaths, when you have never dove it, is quite wrong. That sounds like the sort of talk I’m use to hearing from OC guys. We as the few and enlighten silent divers out there have to form a strong united bond. This sort of infighting is what the OC guys are looking for, a small tear in the fabric, so they can tear us apart.

Just as a point of reference I frequently compare the WOB of my Optima with breathing on a snorkle, as long as you havent over filled you CL's, as John pointed out.

By the way I like Boris too.

Yeah, right on comrade. Those OC guys have been trying to tear the rebreather brotherhood (and sisterhood Reg') apart for years. I'm sick of it and believe we should stand together and form a Rebreather Union to ward off the repressors that are out to get us. It is the only way, "Rebreather Divers United, will never be defeated."

That is exactly how I found it, to an extent both Boris & YBOD feel similar but not so bad. I didn't mean to offend anyone, I know some people are very protective about their units, I on the otherhand am more than happy to bitch about mine
