I'm actually in complete agreement with you on this.

I had been hoping to keep those three letters out of this thread, however.
It's hard not to ask about a DIR connection with respect to the RB80, unrefined edition.

Actually,
Considering the cost of the RB80, versus the cost of ccr, and the relative merrits of each, it's even harder not to ask.

The 3 letters were in NO Way meant to be derogatory or demeaning.

Re: WTB: Two RB80's

I can appreciate the virtues of German engineering and quality. I'm under the impression that's where the RB80 is made, or at the very least, designed. REINHARD BUCHALY is German, is he not?

I had heard a rumour they were considering making some changes to the RB80, is anyone familiar with that?

Talking Two RB80's indeed

Marvintpa, not much wrong with DIR, it's just that what little is wrong with it usually is a deal breaker. They do teach lots of good stuff. Was just having a bit of fun, hope it didn't offend you.

vlada, the RB80 is indeed Rebreather's design, and he builds the units for and used by WKPP. The Halcyon RB80 is build by Halcyon and the unit that is commercially available. Michael (db8us) can probably fill you in on any differences between the two units or changes if there are any.

Re: WTB: Two RB80's

No harm no foul Caveseeker. I just prefer to avoid the DIR battles, there's really no point in them - ya either think it's a good idea or a stupid one, and it's no skin off my nose whichever way people prefer (the horse is truly dead, it needs no further beating).

I certainly appreciate the lack of an agenda most people on this particular board have, it's quite refreshing (and the top notch information isn't too bad either).

Re: WTB: Two RB80's

I would imagine that getting a RB80 second hand would be rather.... difficult... to say the least.

Whats the asking price for a new one anyway??

Re: WTB: Two RB80's

Cameron, I do believe you are entirely right. As I believe I mentioned in my first post, I' guessing this request is a longshot.

I'm under the impression the new price, depending on options, is in the ballpark of $9,000 US.

Yeah I heard the same. Supposedly they gonna add a KISS valve, but this could be just a rumour......

Re: WTB: Two RB80's

KISS-Valve ???
Nope...
Reinhard changed just some very small things like a diameter here or there or different mushroom-valves etc. or inner counter-lungs for ratio, but thi was mainly for "try-out"-things.

And today he would not talk about changes any more, because then all the copiers would be on it...

And letīs put it this way:
a strong training with strong standards and procedures in place are really essential IMHO for surviving breather-divers.
And this should be reflected in trainings, no matter how may letters you want to call it.
I saw training for pSCR that was wrong in its theory, lousy under water and "anarchistic" in procedures. Trust me that we will soon hear more about dead people on pSCR !
