| Re: rebreather sales Use a credit card as the rates are much better. If you cannot get a credit card rest assured that a finance company will not be interested in your business either. Traditional financing sources are not very interested in getting involved with rebreathers for a number of reasons the least of which is the rebreather stigma itself. Years ago I offered a package for the purchase of rebreathers with the only company that I could find that would consider it. There was a $400 application process fee which scared off most to begin with, a reasonable interest rate, a $1 end of lease buyout fee and training could not be included. That was 5 years ago and I am still waiting for the first customer. The simple truth is the numbers don't make much sense to either the buyer or the finance company. |

So cheap units are out there if you get the cash and can pounce as soon as one presents itself. |

| Re: rebreather sales American General does finance scuba and rebreather equipment. I know of 4 shops that are using them in the VA an NC area. The will finance equipment as well as the educational end Use a credit card as the rates are much better. The will finance equipment as well as the educational end I am sure they are but since I have had dealings with American General since they were Ritter Finance I might suggest you look at what you are signing. As was mentioned before the interest rate is the better part of 30%. Second it is a personal loan regardless of what they are calling it for marketing purposes further evidenced by the fact that they are including training. Training is not something that can be collateralized in any formal legal manner, ie what is the resale value of training? Last but not least there are caps on the loans and usually not very high unless secured by real estate. GE Capital has similar offerings but again read the fine print.Bottom line is that if you cannot get a credit card, or even a bank loan and have to resort to an American General then you really have to take a look at your priorities financially. |

This is exactly the type of diver who would skimp on things like sorb and maintenance. An accident waiting to happen. Stick to OC. |
