Major changes I'm aware of in the FX is adjustable foot and the handsets....

Use search a bit, I think the major issue w/ the AL handsets was w/ regards to the depth sensor and some problems w/ it getting 'gunked' over leading to premature failure... Delrin handsets added some sort of relief hole to allow better rinsing...

Also search a bit for the 2nd hand optimas, they do seem to be going for quite low compared to new, largely because it's assumed the buyer would have to foot the bill for a handset upgrade.

Then you'll want the DSIX plate, and other goodies... to pimp out your rig...

P.S. No, mem isn't getting an Optima, he's happy w/ his Meg... it's an ongoing joke w/ the S.C.R.U.B.S. down here in Florida...

I'm in Ottawa and based on the username of rasseer it could be Rudi Asseer former head of TDI Canada and president of Farallon who built the Optima initially for Dive Rite.

Might give them a call and see if it's legit

That is the number he gave me. and that is where he said it was located.And it sounds like one of the original/prototypes

but no more details.. Will call on Monday for more details.

3500.00 plus all the upgrades takes it back up to the 6000.00 range when done.

I was just wondering if the upgrade could have waited while putting in the first 50-100 hours on just air dil and O2. or at least the first season.

ARE you sure MEMPILOT won't want to trade me once I get this.... That is what I ment I sort of followed his new love for the unit and felt he may have a desire to trade...

Thing is this is 7 hours up the road from me in Canada and I think from the small reply I got from the seller it is the old unit with the metal handsets. I will be about 2 hours away from there next weekend. I might pop over and see it or send someone over to see it. if it has not sold.

So no FX upgrade...Someone said it cost 1600 to upgrade to the fx. I have not followed the optimas as much. What is the FX upgrade and is it a must do. or a nice to do.

Apparantly this was built here in Canada as it is one of the older ones. He did give me his number so I will call him on monday.

Anyone else in Canada besides Cornel Fox diving these. What is it like getting the extendidair up here?

200 for the FX upgrade last i checked! same handsets but updated software in the primary
