| Re: Cis Lunar MK 5 Ser #003 for sale Just wait until he gets that black-lidded Evo from DEMA because the MK-5p Clearly it's only a matter of time now.... is just too damn big and heavy, and the unlocking codes drive him nuts. ![]() ![]()

My impression is that I've expected to receive it "soon" from KJ where it's undergoing overhaul and have been waiting many moons now.... Bottom line is that the mechanical part of the overhaul is supposedly done and now it's the 'lekkies part that needs to be completed. I'm preparing to sacrifice a virgin to coax it outta KJ's shop so I can dive with it. So.... ![]() Dave

| Re: Cis Lunar MK 5 Ser #003 for sale The gas block, to me, is the core feature of the rig and I've tried many times to design and build a clone of it to add to a Mark-15, without success. I keep hearing this from people, and I keep thinking "That thing came on the market years ago. The patents (if any) must be expired. Anyone could buy one, take it apart, and build and sell copies as an aftermarket for other devices." What am I missing? |

The only issue with the CIS was that it was a $50K rebreather to produce that sold for $15K. Money was lost on every one. At least they made up for it with volume.. ![]() The gas block: I dunno if there is any patent on the actual concept, but it's *just* a sophisticated set of valves machined into a block. The same functionality can be made at home given enough Swagelok parts. It's the integration that's difficult to duplicate, but with CAD to run the internal port and passage geometry and CNC to make it... why not? No more complex than many aircraft type hydraulic actuator bodies to make. It would *certainly* cost in the many $k at the end of the day so ?? on market. Dave .
