| Re: Side Scan Sonar Wanted Johnny: No Ville has on also, but that one is not that god. It was god for 8 years ago when we first got it. Dave: the one Mattias is using is a DeepVision Side Scan Sonar Systems and the soft is DeepView 1.3 I know that is soon will come a new soft with integrated maps. you can download a viewer program at the sight and test one of my files. just send a pm to me. but remember we had 2 meter waves when we did the scan. and the small wreck is wood we think. have not dives it yet. and it did sink in 1873 we think. /tom |

| Re: Side Scan Sonar Wanted The Dive Rescue group I am associated with just purchased a Towfish from Side Scan Sonar Systems - Marine Sonic Technology, Ltd. For the very reasonable price of 40K, you too can find stuff. I just hope you are looking for things that are a little more pleasant to come across than we are.

| Re: Side Scan Sonar Wanted Typical Burton image for those at the cheaper end. Depth is 15 to 30 m Tow speed 3 knots. , fish was about 4 m under water . Deeper water at bottom of shot. Location is an artificial reef off brisbane. the main wreck shows as bring 31 m long from the GPS co-ords off the log, The builders dimensions show it as being 30.5m , so pretty good resolution for object size etc. Unlike the 40K US prices quotes elsewhere, I paid $3000 Aus, about 2800US, so pretty cheap So far, all I found is a helicopter and a extension to a wreck that we'd missed when diving the site for the last 4 years .Matthew Last edited by MHD : 19th August 2007 at 21:41. |

| Steve Sprague Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Side Scan Sonar Wanted Ran across this on a boating board: http://www.echopilot.com/products/si.../sidescan.aspx Also on the site is another model called "wreckfinder". It is supposed to be "trained" look for the type of sonar signatures that wrecks return. Granted, this is not the quality of sidescan discussed on this thread, but if it works as advertised and you are on a tight budget...

| Re: Side Scan Sonar Wanted Those images from the Burton sidescan look really excellent. Does anyone have any decent images from the Yellowfin? My data from it is really poor but I haven't *yet* managed to make it sink properly or fly straight so perhaps that's not surprising. I'd like some indication that it's worth spending time and money getting it working! |
