Pim, if you have some time, it would be very interesting to hear about the deco planning (which program, did you make any adjustments on account of water temps); thermal protection (what temp water and what was used as drysutis/ underwear) and all other details you can share. Thanks, |

It proves there's a lot one can do with the right tools if one is determined. I can't wait to read the full report, the PTD bulletin made me curious ![]() One thing I'm especially interested in is to know wether the Boris was in an off-the-shelf state for all of you or wether you made changes? Anything particular you did to stay warm other than the bell @ 12 ? Anyway well done

![]() | Re: Recod Dive during Dynamic Dive Exhibition Lago Maggiore Congrats to the whole team, there does seem to have been an incredible amount of logistics. Pim, when can we expect to see a full report post dive as I understand there were some issues with inner ear counter diffusion and leaky suits. How this stuff effected the divers and their decompression is some of the really useful info we can take away from the dives - so I for one would like to hear all about it. Thanks and well done. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Record Dive during Dynamic Dive Exhibition Lago Maggiore I'm a diver, I don't like anything that reduces my hobby to trivial numbers- (or worst still- a sport) As such depth records IMO, suck. Might as well line up these "heros" and measure their wedding tackle for all I care about how deep the went. Hi Ben,Your dislike for record seeking I'm sure is well founded. History is replete with the stories of those who've perished attempting to reach the south pole, or summit a mountain, or land on the moon. My mom thought I was nuts to even scuba dive. The risk I was taking, "For what! You can see all that in a book! What's the point?" was just too much for her to fathom. I didn't have the heart to explain RBs to her . She was an incredibly tenacious woman, raising four kids alone, and then dying of lung cancer from years of smoking (it turns out not everthing mundane is safe either). What's the point? We all have risk preferences, and we all have different things that drive us toward a feeling of being alive, a sense of accomplishment, a new adventure, or a nagging wonder of whether we can actually do it. I'm sure my Mom's Everest was raising four kids alone, albeit with the comfort of cigarettes. We can all choose an easier, safer path. On average, everyone would probably live a little bit longer. But that doesn't mean the pure enjoyment of life increases. Let others pick there own risk preferences. You don't need to "approve" or "agree" for them to feel they've accomplished something. It's THEIR accomplishment, not ours, and we should celebrate that. Everyone is someone elses nut. What you do (DIVE REBREATHERS!?) is crazy to some. But the expectation of a longer life doesn't mean the certainty of a life more fulfilled. Let these guys have their accomplishment. Rebreather divers of all people should toast it, even if we understand the risk they took to accomplish it. Cheers. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Recod Dive during Dynamic Dive Exhibition Lago Maggiore Pim I believe this is a significant accomplishment. The Wright brothers only flew for 120' on their first flight, all new knowledge is gained incrementally. You and you team has benefited us all. Thanks for your efforts Kevin |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Recod Dive during Dynamic Dive Exhibition Lago Maggiore very recently a member of Rebreather World has given me some good advice for sharing info and "leave the tossers behind". That i really appreciated. instead of throwing mud, we should all be happy that some fellow Rebreather divers have got together, they had the greatest support that i've even seen, unbelievable enthousiasm and desire to suceed and they did something incredible. That alone is worth taking our hats off to them. Pim congratulations my friend to you and all the guys taking part. This was a lesson of how to do things. very impressive feat, very impressive video and setup. everybody knew what to do, and when. great achievement for the leader(s) of this expedition for keeping such a big even on schedule. so, well done to everybody. i am sure there were many of us who wished we were just there, given the chance to act as support divers, help around etc.... GREAT - JUST GREAT!!!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Recod Dive during Dynamic Dive Exhibition Lago Maggiore Very, very, well done, nice to know that the Ouroboros can handle this. Congratulations to the team. Ehm, I know you discovered that the Lake Maggiore water's are around 2 cm cold, isn't? I was there (unfortunatly and not depending on me, without CCR) and I know you had some trouble with your dry suit... And what's about Scuotto? Didn't he have a vestibular during the ascent? ![]() Regards Nad

Congratulation for surviving a similar task. Can you make a detailed report of the dive and how did you managed the problems of such an aggressive dive? Thank you. |
