I like to take one down in my drysuit pocket to chill it so I can crack it open as soon as I surface :-)

Gotta do something while waiting for the boat to pick you up

Also, reduces the risk of hypoxia!!

Oh boy, Stella Artois.

Girl, it's possible you know something about rebreathers but you have a long way to go in the Belgian beer department. Koninck, Duvel, Trappist, Delerium Tremens, .... those are the ones you should take with you.

PS. Don't feed those to the locals, they cannot handle anything above 3%.

Red Stripe is Carribbean, British Caribbean BTW... and naturally we have all the ice we need outta the icemaker as well as the other luxuries. We picked the wrecks just for you. We *do* need to compete with your UK offerings.

Re: Andrea Doria Trip

Recently, there has been a change in what is being sold.
While large mass markets are stilling selling lite white wash beer, there is a solid movement a foot with ambers and darker beers.

Here's one recenlty in Kansas I had a "kilt lifter" that was brewed with flower instead of hopps. Wow, it was great.

So there seems to be some hope.

I can't beleive the variety you have, in Thailand we're stuck with Heineken and local beers.

Please use your baggage allowance to bring us some proper beer, we'll lend you tanks if you do

Hmmm, let's see.
1 Rebreather 20 Kg
1 Video camera + lights 20 kg
1 rest diving gear 10 kg
Clothes - optional.

Oeps, that is already over my 40 Kg baggage allowance limit.

I've got another proposal. You come to Belgium for some great wreck diving during the summer in the Northsea and we'll get you drunk on different beers every evening. There used to be a pub in Antwerp called Beerland. It had over 1000 different kinds of beer.

But I'll try to get you a couple of local Belgian beers anyway.

Re: Andrea Doria Trip

Hi many thanks for all the replies and PMs, just working my way through all the options and will reply in due course.

Didn't realise there were so many beer monsters here, this is good!

Jamie, I'll be leaving for Thailand later this month, after I return from the States. I meant to get in touch actually regarding doing some stuff off the Trident (in between working and caves). What beer do you want? I have to go back to the UK in July for a Northern Ireland trip and will restock beer supplies then also!

PC - you should be ashamed of yourself my good man, a Belgian countryman slating Belgium's finest export would be a hanging offence in any of the less salubrious cities and towns of finest rural England

Jiseson, you recommend sea turtle, can you explain a bit more about the logistic set up? Same for anyone else recommending specific boats.

Cheers
AnneMarie

Good question, as I would expect from someone of your experience level.

As someone who has about $100K invested in safety and survival gear to make our offshore trips safe, I'd also be interested in knowing what the other boats have for logistics.

Never mind the 'convenience items": A provided RIX oil-free compressor, Haskel Booster, (2) He/02 analizers, comprehensive rebreather spare parts and tool inventory, extra loaner drysuits, stages, and other goodies. Heck we even carry a loaner REBREATHER just in case (KISS).

I'd be very interested in knowing what boats have the following safety gear:

HF/SSB Radio (Global HF Radio)
Satphone (and a phone call home daily for the passengers)
HF Faxcimile weather forcast system
COPASS-SARSAT EPIRB (for the boat)
COPASS-SARSAT EPIRB (for the raft)
SOLAS equipped life raft
Ditch Bag for sea-survival of 12 people for 72 hours including VHF radio, GPS, Reverse Osmosis watermaker, first aid gear, rations, water, etc.
Advanced first aid kit incuding all basic antibiotics, suturing materials, and intubation equipment plus the knowlage to use it.
Contract with a Medical Provider to provide real-time medical advice via Satphone, coordinated with the contents of the medical kit.
Defibrulator for cardiac arrest management
Emergency positive pressure 02 system / ambu bag / etc.
Additional free-flow 02 capability sufficient to keep 4 divers on 02 for 24 hours for evacuation by sea from wreck site.
Towed RIB chase boat for retrieval of wayward divers.
RIB boat's survival gear: VHF radio, GPS, and EPIRB (think about it, you want to be 100 miles offshore in a 12 foot RIB without survival gear?)
Umbilical drop 02 system fed by 2 J Bottles hung on the deco station
Drop bottles of mix placed at the anchor and also at the 130 foot deco station

Etc...

Just curious.

Not to mention Red Stripe Beer, an icemaker to keep it cold, and most of a cow which we eat marinated and grilled.....
