F@%k the Doria!

Thought an interesting thread title may elicit some curiousity.

I have started a bloggish type entry on the AUE website for a currently running project. For those that think the ANDREA DORIA is the be-all-end-all of wreck diving, this might open your eyes to the awesome diving that is going on elsewhere in the world, and what potential still is out there for virgin shipwreck exploration.

AUE: ASSOCIATION OF UNDERWATER EXPLORERS

Check in daily as based on past expeditions you will likely hear about some awesome finds. Stay tuned....

No arguments about the importance, challenge and interest surrounding the Doria relative to the many better wrecks out there Barney... and always interesting to see what you southerners have uncovered this week! I also see you are looking a little off-color... must be the Belgium beer. Take care mate and happy surfacing.

Re: F@%k the Doria!

Hi Steve-
Not knocking the DORIA (too much, at least ), just pointing out that many times divers get so focused on just their piece of the world and are unaware of what else is going on around them. That's why I was so looking forward to this trip to get some more exposure with other wreck divers. And in just a few days I have been blown away. The stuff that these lads have been doing over the past 20+ years is amazing. Also wants me to consider picking up and moving over here due to all the potential!!
Looking forward to getting wet soon -- now its time to sleep though.
Later,
Mike

Re: F@%k the Doria!

updates added...

The wreck we dived yesterday was the most incredible thing I have seen. Nothing like it in the U.S. The bottom was literally white with 1800s china and porcelain, not to mention all the bottles and other goodies. Too crazy!

They have been good thus far. Been drinking in some pubs haunted by proper pirates back in the day, so the potential for trouble is there.

Added another update today, and hopefully will have cool stuff to share in the next couple of days....

Talk to you soon D.

Mike

BTW, they need more Megs over here
