Is there something said over there? anyone with some good informative website onthe matter? Thanks.

Any of the Greek Brothers heard something? Thanks Spyros

Take care, Spyros

Diving has not even started on the wreck and so far there is already a fatallity in terms of Diver life. i know that the 2 french people were never found but this is a bad start on what i thought it would be a dream technical wreck dive in the future. sympathy to the family and friends. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sea Diamond Wreck in Greece hello guys, a new update. it has been presented that oceanography maps were wrong and the course that the captain of the ship had was right. it is so sad and tragic that in the year 2000 there are wrong maps that ship captains rely on... as it turns out there is the possibility that the company and the crew will be aqquited from liability and the blame will be thrown probably to the goverment or the authorities who have aprooved of those maps as being reliable... its a shame, isn't it? | aquanaut Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Sea Diamond Wreck in Greece that just fits in into the whole whaked and sad story: a wrong sea chart. IF ! there is really a so much wrong sea chart does not necessarily mean unguilty of navigational failure. as a proper navigator u cannot relay on a sea chart only. there are more navigational aids like radar and depth sounders just to name the basics. the most important is common sense which includes the most important to always keep proper look out, safe distance, safe speed, readiness and possible other assistance like pilots or tug boats. if there is no higher cause of failure like massive bad weather or even a complete black out that accident should not have happened. further: to send scuba divers on a deep dive to investigate damage at that depth is just as bad - pushing unneccessary risks. it mite even be illegal as in these circumstances an official investigation should not be conducted with a "sport / recreational" scuba dive system. the contractors for this job - which sadly ended in a tragic fatality - should be put in court. i get the feeling of a typical no care / safe money attitude. if responsibles would like to take care of damage control they should deploy a commercial dive operation for a survey and to fix the oil leak. it is expensive but could also be done by rov. the whole thing is a sad farce. |
