Rebreather World Store 'Ultimate' Torch Range.

Following discussions with one of the Worlds leading Diving Torch Manufacturers we are ready to finalise our new 'Ultimate' Torch Range and we would like to get any idea's you have so we can look at incorporating them into the Torch's Specification bearing in mind the final selling cost has to be right.

We are looking at a fully Modular range that will have batteries made to suit specific CCR units for ease of mounting and balance & comfort whilst diving with the option to add more battery packs should much longer burn times be required.

Without getting into the great HID / LED debate we will be offering both types of heads with adjustable beams that can be changed during the dive to suit specific needs with an eye on burn times and charging systems.

We can select our own unit colour and the Range will have the Rebreather World logo on it.

So let me have your wish list and I will get the details sorted out and we should end up with a CCR specific diving torch to suit our needs at an affordable price without compromising on build quality or reliability.

At least 100m depth rating with the option for more
Robust attachment system that is easy to detach
Easy to upgrade (with the latest battery, head, etc)
3hr burn time on full power with a 'backup' half-power option
quick charge (one hour?)
multi-voltage charger
less than 1kg weight
drop proof
easily replaceable parts
goodman handle or elastic strap option
blindingly bright (should have been first)
under $1000 (aud or US - they are pretty much the same atm anyway )
detachable head that can be used with user replaceable batteries so that a backup could be the same as the main torch but with reduced burn time (probably wishful thinking)

Is that enough to go on with, Barry?

If both HID and LED coming from a single manufacturer, then it sounds like Green-Force ?

If that's correct, I do like their skinny battery canister design (i.e. easy to fit inside the Rebreather case, as well as splitting on either side of the scrubber) but do not like their light head design too much.

And they need to implement the E/O connection within their product line too, for true modular.

Compact light head design.... Similar size to Halcyon 10w head...

Here in Spain, there is a manufacturer of led torchs that has become the more apreciated for sport and technical divers.

Their products are really great, indestructible, great performance and the best customer service I have ever seen.

You should pay attention to them.

I would say:

200 m depth rating (as Dave wrote)
compact pack design maybe something like GF
Modular packs (for more light time if needed)
Easy maintenance and back sale service
Easy upgrade
Variable beam
and last but not least "civil" price!!

If along the lines of Greenforce, A external switch for on / of with lock. Charging able to take place without taken unit apart and disturbing o rings.

Although lithium batteries have the best energy density, recent lithium battery air travel restrictions should be taken into account. There should be at least one option w/ state of the art NiMH batteries to accommodate traveling divers.
