| RebreatherWorld Sponsor ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | AII Sensors Dear Customer, We have been informed that AII has had some issues with the construction of recent sensors as a result of changing their manufacturing process. The AII part numbers that are affected are: PSR 11-39-MD PSR 11-39-APD PSR 11-39-JD AII inform us that not every sensor they have manufactured is affected, they tell us the change they made in the manufacturing process can cause the sensors to fail early. However we believe that it is much better to be safe and would like to offer you a free replacement for any AII sensors that you have purchased from the Rebreather World Store. Please email us at orders@rebreatherworldstore.com with your order number and where you would like your replacement sensors delivered and we will get replacements sent out to you free of charge as soon as our replacement batches arrive in stock. Regards Rebreather World Store |

However Friday we picked up the email off AII that informed us that there might be faulty sensors in the batch we had ordered and that they would replace them and asked if we could send back the faulty sensors. We then put in place the logistics of how we could make this happen. The best thing to do was just to replace all the sensors we had sold regardless of if they were faulty or not and whether or not people could send back any faulty sensors. So we emailed all our customers with the above message. We also placed this message on Rebreather World which is what you see above.![]()

I hope to have more information from AII in the near future but for now I feel we are being prudent by offering replacement sensors to all our customers. We have been discussing the future methods of testing Sensors since the Cell Checker was released and some threads about that are here on Rebreather World but that was more along the lines of how best to employ the Cell Checker rather than any issues with the AII Sensors.

| In my own little world ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: AII Sensors It is very hard to judge if there is bad cells going around unless you have a big enough sample size, i talked to APD about this and they return 30% of there cells to teledyne so a few cells coming back in normal, only the manufacture is likely to spot a trend in returned cells. that said we contacted Aii about a possible problem with some cells a few weeks ago after we had a number fail on us, these cells where brought from ccr sense but we dealt with Aii directly, Aii have had a cell checker from us and has ordered a special one, personally i think everyone involved has done the right thing and in a timely manner after a problem was detected. i don't know when Aii decided there was a problem that needed a recall but after this problem has been sorted i will still support them, as a problem like this has happened to other cell manufactures as well. kind regards john routley

Hi Mark,Forgive me if I was harsh in the other thread I reacted quite angraly to the initial information but I have calmed down now. ATB Mark I did not pick up that you had been harsh from the other thread I just picked up a deep sense of concern from everyone that a piece of equipment we rely on during our dives could be faulty from day one. As John Routley has mentioned in his previous post 30% of sensors can be returns and I think this move from AII is a further step in a seed change with the approach we all take to Sensors that are used for diving and I think the fact that John's Cell Checker is being picked up by manufacturers will drive the failure rate and number of returns with new sensors down. So yes, change can be a bit scary but if it leads to better Sensor checking along the line and also encourages all divers to double check equipment and better understand it then it is worth the effort and although AII did not spend the time to sugar coat the announcement I still applaud them for tackling it straight on and up front.
