| Rob Clemes Current Rebreather/s: | I need a holiday, and am thinking of trying Hurghada instead of Sharm for a change. Can anyone give a comparison of the type / quality of diving between the 2 resorts please. I'll be diving my KISS Sport, and my girlfriend will be on OC - max depth 30m (unless she gets over enthusiastic !) I expect I'll be using Emperor (Tekstreme), as I have used them in Sharm, and found them to be very good - are they just as organised in Hurghada ? Is it the same deal with sorb, tanks, bailout cylinder etc. Of course I will ask them, but I thought I would also like to hear of anyone else's experiences.. Finally (and most importantly) - the Hilton Resort sounds ideal as Emperor are based on site - but can you get a good Sheesha there ![]() |

| Holiday diver Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada I can't comment on the difference divecentre's, but definatly about the diving. As far as diving goes, IMO Hurghada is pretty poor. Sharm is quite nice, but my preference is a liveaboard, hands down. I also like Sharm better as town then Hurgada which, again IMO, is a bit of a sh!tehole. I lived there for a year, and disliked every day of it. Liked my job tho. Denz.

I've lived one year in sharm and 7 years in hurghada and there's a good reason for that! With regards to the diving, of course it's different to sharm, but we have more wrecks over this side, a few good wall dives and loads of shallower coral gardens so whether you are looking for a wreck at 100, 60, 45, 30 or 8 metres (we have them all), a deep wall or a shallow 'easy' dive, Hurghada actually has more variety. Sharm certainly has more shoals of fish & bigger stuff due to the nature of the topography - drop-offs straight from the coast line, but if you fancy a change then Hurghada is more than worth it. As to the dive centre - Tekstreme in Hurghada is exactly the same deal as in Sharm. I have all the same stuff the Aaron does at the same prices - let me know if you want more info. Cheers!

| Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada I have stayed in the Hilton Resort and it is an excellent hotel. I been in both Sharm and Hurghada and personally I prefer Hurghada. I have used Emperor/Tekstreme in Hurghada for dayboat diving and courses and I dont think you can find better anywhere. As for the Shisha ? You can get them in the hotel or go for a wander into the town. Rgds Tommy |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada I have done both places (Sharm and Hurghada) and I must say I prefer Sharm like town, although in both towns there is not much to do. But in fact only the diving matters I think: If you want 'nature' go to Sharm, but If you want 'wrecks' go to Hurghada. I am just back from a liveaboard with Emperor (Get wrecked) and I must say that this was best diving holiday I ever had at the Red Sea. As Paul said: there is NO difference in service/price between Tekstreme Sharm and Hurghada! Both are excellent. Regards, Erik |

| Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada it been 15. years since i was in hurghada. do they still turn the water of at night. the first night i was there they had turned of the electric water heater in my room, took a nap whlie i waited for it to warm up, and by then they had turned the water off. i guess that the thirty gallon tub fulll of water in the bath should have been a good clue. i was staying at the old club med south of town. rick |

| Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada Hurghada IMHO has some of the best divesites in the Red Sea, you just have to know where to find them. A lot of people will dive on daily boats and the dive centres go to where it's easy. A lot depends on the guests on the boat, If you know where to go your guarranted Sharks and even a good chance of a Dugong. As for wreck diving Emperor Divers in Soma bay do the Salam Express as a daily dive on a Wednesday and most El Gouna dive centres go to Abu Nuhas as a Daily dive. If you try and get to these wrecks from a central Hurghada dive centre there will most likely be an early start and a surcharge. Better to take a taxi and drive to the "local" Dive centre. Sofnalime isn't abundent but Drager divesorb is freely available about 8.5 euro per kilo. O2 is very cheap but if you want it boosted you will pay about 10 euro for a 200 bar fill. As you arrive in the airport DON'T join the line for a visa from the tour company. Instead go the the bank kiosk on the right and you'll get change from a tenner. Have a nice time. |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Emperor Divers - Hurghada We buy sofnolime by the tonne, so we usually have plenty in stock here! Let me know if you need some Simon. Our O2 CCR fills to 200 bar are free of charge to our daily guests as is tank rental for any rebreather. Sofnolime is the only extra cost. Cheers! Paul.
