Rebreather-friendly resorts in Maldives ?

I had some information that were a few years old when we went there the first time (but ended up a non-diving holiday). So just want to know if there are any changes lately...

If you have been recently, please help out with suggestions for resorts in Maldives that:
  1. Have 2-3L tanks to rent
  2. Have sorb available to sell
  3. Have O2, and booster
  4. Have interesting dive sites
Maldives is still our plan-B, ultimately our May-2007 plan-A trip would hopefully still be somewhere ideally:
  1. Direct flight for divers coming from Europe and UAE
  2. Warm beaches for family to enjoy while we go diving
  3. Deep diving allowed (i.e. 70m and beyond)
  4. Have Rebreather tanks, sorb, O2, Helium and booster
Possible candidates are:
  1. Sharm again (pro: excellent logistic with Emperor, nice deep sites, warm - con: expensive flight from UAE, having to run the Egyptian gaunlet every night going out to dinner)
  2. Phuket (pro: great food and people, warm - con: mostly shallow sites, long boat rides for deep sites, don't know operators)
  3. Maldives (plan B)
  4. South China Sea liveaboard from Singapore (pro: great diving, done before - con: can't charter with just a few people)
Any suggestions given the idealistic aforementioned restraints ?

Do you have prices for o2, 797 Sofnolime and tank rental? The site just gives $9 for divesorb and $14 extra per dive on dolphins?
Also there is no 60mins 30m limit for CCR divers right?

Brent

Re: Rebreather-friendly resorts in Maldives ?

Hi,

Here are the informations requested :

-Sofnolime : 9$ per kilo
-O2 : 5 cents per liter

Unfortunately the 30mtr./60min. is not our decision but the government's
rules for any boat diving in the Maldives. However you are welcome to do a longer dive on the "house-reef".

Hope this will help.
Best regards.

Re: Rebreather-friendly resorts in Maldives ?

Thanks for clearing that up Jean-Marie.

One more question, how do some organisations go about technical diving in the Maldives if the government has such restrictions?
