| Planning a Red Sea Wreck Fest - Advice Hello all, I'm looking at organising a Red Sea trip next year (Oct-ish) for my diving club. I am on an inspiration and all my mates are on OC. I went to the Red Sea in September with Emperor Divers (OC) and had a great time. Nice boat (Emp Frasier) and was hoping to return for a 'Tech week' for a wreck fest. (Sept was good, but is it just me, sometimes the coral looks the same?!) I was looking at the Emperor divers website and saw that the cost for scrubber is €11 per kilo. Isn't that a lot? Can anyone tell me if that is the going rate for scrubber in the Red Sea and/or you can recommend a charter that would meet our requirements? Thanks for your time. John ![]()

They organised O2, He, rebreather bottles and stages for us. We brought our own sorb. We had 5 Inspiration divers and 5 double tank divers (Normoxic). The rest, 11 divers, were non-techies, also known as the "single tankers" (what quickly became "simpletons" I'm looking at organising a Red Sea trip next year (Oct-ish) for my diving club. Let me know whether you need more info or contact information. |

Have a look @ { Whirlwind } and their{ Get Wrecked } itinery. The Tornado Fleet boats are Rebreather friendly and have Nitrox & trimix on tap. {Book through Tony Backhurst (UK) }The 11 euros is about the going price, but worth taking a full scrubber so you are up and running on the first day. We have got Whirlwind booked for the Oct 13th trip ( Get Wrecked ), but only got 2 spaces left now. |

| Re: Planning a Red Sea Wreck Fest - Advice Another vote for whirlwind. I organised a trip for my local club/s on whilwind this october doing a wreck only week. 2 of us on the boat were on CCR whilst everyone else was OC. boat is top notch, booster pump on board so no probs with fill's, trimix also available. Lime is expensive at around £20 per fill, i took 2 fills with me so that saw me out for the first 3 days. so all i paid extra for were 2 fills of lime and £20 for O2 for the entire week so all in all not to bad, as nitrox for the oc lot was £60 for the week. just let tornado marine/tony backhurst know that you need CCR bottles on board ready for your arrival, we paid £20 for the 3ltr bottles (dil & O2) for the week rental. So i paid roughly £80, plus my own two fills of lime for taking my unit with me. But as i said before the OC lot paid £60 for nitrox for the week. So for me it was worth that little bit extra cost...nothing better when the oc guys and gals were pulling 20min BT on the r-moller, whilst i was doing 45-50min BT with the whole wreck all to myself check Tony Backhurst Scuba, Specialists in Red Sea Liveaboards for details ATB Gareth P.S the trip was so good we have already booked the whole boat again for oct 2008, doing the 2 wrecks on the brothers then heading back north to dive abu-nuhas, gubal etc. Last edited by Depth-junkie : 13th December 2006 at 21:58. |

A friend of mine wasn't convinced about rebreathers. After seeing our bottom times and deco intervals, he is. He is now scheduled for an Inspo course. So for me it was worth that little bit extra cost...nothing better when the oc guys and gals were pulling 20min BT on the r-moller, whilst i was doing 45-50min BT with the whole wreck all to myself BTW. Nitrox is for free on the Sea Serpent fleet. |

| Re: Planning a Red Sea Wreck Fest - Advice We booked the excess baggage and took our own sofnalime. It was cheeper. I went for 6 days diving 6 fills so about 15Kg of lime. I think we paid £25 for 15KG so it worked out at about £12 a fill. However i am sure the fills were a lot more than E11.00/KG Some went with 4 fills and used the temp sticks on the Visions and other just pushed the scrubbers to 6 hours getting two days out of a fill. We booked with tecstreem and they braught along spare lime just in case which was nice of them. They also had varous spares for the Classics. ATB MArk Chase

E-mail safaris@emperordivers.com if you want more info on boats, dates & prices.
