Travel in/out of US

I should have asked this earlier, but forgot...

In a few hours, I am flying into Houston for a couple of weeks.

On the way out, I will be bringing a couple of Meg cans, camera equipment and other Rebreather gears. Most likely I will max out on 2 x 32kg allowance and will pay excess luggage for an extra bag. Of course, all will be checked luggage.

Also, I will be taking my laptop (plus iPod, etc) in my small backpack as carry-on.

Has anything changed lately regarding the allowable luggage allowance that I should be aware off ?

Thanks in advance.

Liquids on carry-on are limited to what will fit into a sandwich-sized zip-lock bag. Individual liquid items cannot exceed 3 ounces (I don't know the metric equivilent & I'm too lazy to look it up). I've seen items in a 4 oz tube that was half-empy get refused by the TSA. Liquids includes anything that's a gel or paste in consistency (gel deodorants, toothpaste, mascara, etc.)

Laptops must come out of the bag for the security screen and go through the metal detector separately (that's been in effect for a while).

They're getting more and more aggressive about charging for overages in size and weight.

Otherwise, everything is the same.

Re: Travel in/out of US

Hi

I flew Continental last week from the USA.
Max allowance 50£, 2 bags
More than 50£ and less than 70£ you have to pay $25 for each bag
More than 70£ you have to pay $50 for each bag.
They are not very worried about the total weight, but they don't allow more than 50£ for each bag
Have a safe trip
Pedro

I don't need to bring booze in/out so not an issue for me. Laptop comes out easy as well so no problem.

Shipping the dive gears could be as high as US$800-1000 when added everything, so as long as excess luggage is below that, I am "saving" money...

Thanks guys!

It would be like winning the lottery if KLM is limiting luggage allowance and follows these costs. I could afford to buy more stuffs then...

Re: Travel in/out of US

This is what you want, 2 X 32kg to US/Canada, 1 x 20kg bag for the rest of the world.

Baggage allowance

That's what it used to be for Economy.

Now I see that they also have reduced to 2 x 23kg/50lb for Economy...
