Potential Cave / Cavern Trip to Mexico

Dear All,

We are thinking of planning an Rebreather World Cave / Cavern trip to Mexico.

The exact format is yet to be worked out but it would have an element of flexibility in it.

Duration would be 7 to 10 days (you choose), time there could be spend guided cave / cavern diving with the potential for one or two days in the carribean sea diving some wrecks and reefs.

We could also organise Cavern and Cave courses.

We would need at least 10 to make this trip viable.....Show of hands if anyone is interested?

Dates dependant on interest...

It really wouldn't take much persuasion

Depends on cost.... personally I'd prefer OC for mexico. Its shallow and goes on miiiles.

Please explain why?

To me its like Cave get into trouble. CCR loads of time to sort it? Are you just trying to minimise equipemnt by doing it on thirds with no stages.

PS if we go will they insist on a cave corse for going beyound the daylight zone?

Me too. Might be interested so long as I could dive sidemounts and didn't have to go in the sea. I'd take my rebreather but like Zak don't really see the need.

Edit: I don't need to do a cave course.

Yes. Why have all the logistics hassle and risk of using a CCR when an OC twinset/sidemounts is perfectly adequate? There are some benefits to CCR in mexico, but I doubt we'd be doing the sites to warrant the hassle for me. Im a lazy diver

The CCR to me is just a tool, not a religious belief. Sorry for being a heretic

As for a course, damn right skippy. If you're not trained in some way, you don't belong there.

No I am with you all the way, I only dive CCR coz it what i need to do.

As for the corse i was wondering if they did Muppet guided dives inside the cave or if we had to do a cave course reguardless. If we do i will try to get it done before we go, thats all.

I dont think I would be attempting Ressal without training but from what I have seen of the Mexico caves on the net they are silt free masive 30m viz and easy.
Thats a slightly diferent set of peramiters

Get trained, simple as.

for example, mexico you get exposed to lots more side tunnels than in ressel, you have snap'n'gaps, line junctions, in some places T's.... and theres a whole lot of protocols.

As for trusting guides.... hmmmm... your call

I might be interested depending on who are coming.

Don't mean to be snooty, but I don't like the idea of cave diving with someone I have never met or dived together before.

I (1/2) agree with Zak about CC, but I could easily bring the Sport-KISS there so not a big deal on logistic. Plus having a full 80cf OC stage will be more gas than on 1/3 anyway...
