Question ccr holidays?

I m thinking of going on holiday some time next year and I wonder if anyone has any good suggestions of rebreather friendly places to go?

I m probably going by myself as my mrs doesnt dive and most of my friends are tight!

So far I have dived in the Carribean (spelt wrong?!), the Red Sea, Malta and Norway..All very good..None with my rebreather.

So i m looking for any suggestions, only qualified to MOD1, not really in deco! dont mind wrecks or reefs.

Any ideas????

Oh dont fancy travelling for hours couped up in a plane either!

Why not? All very do-able. Just back from Malta and Air Malta did not bat an eyelid at 39Kg of checked backage.

If I was you I would go on Nautilus Explorer. Rebreather, friendly awesome setup and will let you dive on your own. You will be hard pressed to go into deco on the majority of the dives. Zoom and Globespan both have allowance for diving kit so going for an economy plus ticket you will get 40kg of checked baggage. Sorted!
Been on Nautilus Explorer the last two years and some of the best diving of my life. The other guests tend not to be so "hard core" so its easy to get away from the OC wasters.
There is usually a mix of wrecks/reefs.
Downside? You will have to show some restraint with your eating habits..... the food is non-stop!

Re: ccr holidays?

If you don't mind Malta again, here you can dive as you already know and good for all the family. Plenty of places to go! Maybe even spend some time in Gozo as well!

Pierre,
It was Very Windy when I was out so we only got out to the Polynesian once and the Stubburn. That E boat in 70m eludded us! ....but when would the optimum months be to carry out those deeper dives?
or is it pot luck?
It was my first time in Malta/Gozo and I was very impressed.
The zero hassle from the national airline was refreshing.
....but the standard of driving on the roads .

Re: ccr holidays?

seconded the vote for nautilus explorer. We went in April. O2, sorb, good fills. Captain Mike dives a Meg. Great diving, and good food.

Re: ccr holidays?

Well, since you are asking about where to go for some great Rebreather diving. I can recomend the Catamaran Inula, that leaves out of Panama for some great diving around Panama's Coiba Island, or you can go all the way to Malpelo where you will find Shark galore! The Boat is listed in RB Friendly Destinations here on RBW. And the skipper of the Inula is a RB diver himself.

cheers,

Any idea about prices, especially the Malpelo - Coiba 12 day trip? It looks like a nice destination.

Thanks,

Peter
