| Sensible baggage Policy At Last Having been a regular traveller to The Red Sea and Maldives over the last five years complete with Drager Dolphin and associated kit, it has always been a struggle to keep the weight reasonable at the check in desks to avoid ridiculous charges. This also means that it isn't viable to take sorb if you are going to get hit anything up to £8 per kilo excess. At last one of the main airlines doing these routes has got a sensible policy. Monarch Airlines has since this summer been charging a flat rate of £15 for a dive bad, thats right £15 each way and that is up to 32kgs and on top of your regular allowance of 20kgs. On a recent trip to Sharm for a couple of weeks my two bags totalled 58kgs as we took plenty of sorb and even a bail out bottle with us. All for the princely sum of 15 quid. Another guy on the trip who flew with Thomson was charged £80 excess baggage and had less than me!!!!! The trip was booked with Longwood Holidays who have always been first class and if given the choice of flights it is advisable to pick Monarch as it could save you a fortune. |
