Maybe Julie (owner of the famous 'tigger' Meg, might know. Not hijacking the thread but something else I'd like to know - are any airlines out there increasing hold baggage allowances to compensate people for not allowing to take hand baggage? Regards Nick

| Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage For what it is worth, I took my Evo Electronics and scrubber canister on carry on from the US to Costa Rica in April 2006. It went through the x-ray and I just waited for them to ask "who's is this?!" You could see them chcking it out on the screen and the TSA guy called over somebody else. I just raised my hand and said "mine". They went through it by hand with me and no further drama. |

I keep a smile on my face, describe what it is and mention the Cave movie. I have 3 flights in the next 3 months, we will see how it goes.

| Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage Check out http://www.baa.co.uk. In principal reading this I would say yes, however the biggest challenge would be finding a suitable size bag that is small enough to fit in the new regulations but big enough. It seems you will also have to remove each electronic item for individual inspection item when you go through security. I flew with my Inspo earlier in the year and put my head in the hold, it was fine. |

You should be OK, unless you have to change flights in the UK. Our hand luggae limits are much reduced compared to the international standards. |

| Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage I took my vision elecs on as hand luggage with my VR3 in march to Dahab with no problems. I am due to go to Sharm in October but i can see it being a different story this time round with all the recent problems in the UK with regards to air travel. I think it is still no hand luggage on all flights at the mo still, but i could be wrong. ATB Gareth |

Hand luggage is permitted in the UK but the size of the bag is very restricted ... see the BAA site above. Also you cannot take on board any liquids etc. or anything that could be used to store liquids.I somehow think that taking the scrubber and head of the vision as hand luggage might raise more eyebrows than its worth - and it probably won't fit in a carry on bag for now. On last couple of flights the check in staff were pretty relaxed about the hold luggage limits. Oh well... O/C for my next business trip! Steve |
