Did you remove the hazchem label from the sofnolime container? Or did you try to ship "as is"? |

But this might be worth a trial next time - or juts shipping it by snail mail a couple of weeks prior to the trip. Does anyone have any experience with this ?

| Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage Unless they relax the rules on the size of hand luggage you could struggle to get an inspo head into a 45 x 35 x 16 cm bag. They were checking every bag for size at Manchester and Heathrow today. I dont think the electronics theselves are a problem just the size. Simon |

It's not unlabelled as sofnolime if you do this, just unlabelled as a hazard. Which the printable document from APD confirms. IIRC, it's a hazard in use, not in transport. So why give the monkeys at the airport a reason? But this might be worth a trial next time - or juts shipping it by snail mail a couple of weeks prior to the trip. | Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage Hello Timbo, in my experience all airlines are different in the way that they apply the rules. If there is a specific prohibition on CCRs as "Defense Equipment", then it's probably not worth trying, unless you've got someody who can take the stuff back home for you after gettng told no. I always tell the screeners that it's scuba equipment and I've yet to meet one who knew what a rebreather was, a big advantage in your favor. So far leaving from here in the USA, I have not been turned back from taking my Prism -cowling and cyls in carry on. But times are changing. Good luck, -Andy |

I usually wind up using Sodasorb, which doesn't really have a hazchem warning on it. I prefer Sofno, but it's much more expensive here in NYC... and it has that stupid warning sticker. -Andy |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Can Rebreather electronics go as hand luggage The people on last friday's flight out to hurghada had to put EVERYTHING in the hold bar a book & couple of small things. NO electronics at all in the cabin. There were no CCR divers (that I'm aware of), but I can't see them allowing it at the moment. It might get better with time if we're lucky. Bubble wrap isn't too expensive though!! On the weight issue, they were allowing hand luggage type bags on top of the normal weight allowance (20 or 25kg) without extra charge. I'm sure this will change soon as well!
