Hello All, I'm getting ready to fly for the first time with ALL my supplies, including sodalime for the first time. Reading the air lines info, seems that as long as your under 4% it is okay to check it. Now my question, I have big five gallon buckets of the stuff and will need to take a whole bucket for the week. (2 divers on Dolphins, 5 dives a day, 5 days of diving) So, how have you all transported sodalime when you've traveled? I'm all about learning from others on this one. I'm willing to pay for an extra bag/luggage to get it there. Will be flying out of Atlanta to Belize for this trip. Any info is GREATLY appreciated.

Distribute a few of these amongst your dive party and you should make out OK. | Re: Soda Lime to go please While I haven't flown with my rebreather, I do like to pack my sorb in 1 or 2 fill increments when leaving home. This makes handling and transporting a lot easier. Measure by weight and ad 3%. I like the idea of opening a bag, filling the scrubber and tossing the bag. No partially full containers to reseal. Ted

Re: Soda Lime to go please great info. answers if the airlines will have a freak fit or not. Time to borrow the sisters food saver and use the no crush mode. The only other concern is that we have to dispose of the used soda lime ourselves. That should be fun. Am taking along a contractor garbage bag for keeping the used stuff in until be get back to port. Thanks again LadyG

Re: Soda Lime to go please We have available to dive stores/resorts Sofnolime Twinpaks-2-9.9 lb jugs of 812 grade Sofnolime, perfect for packing and traveling. The main issue we had was repackaging and convincing security of what it was even though we traveled with MSDS sheets. Lee www.seapearls.com

I had heard that this was a problem if you repackaged absorbent. Last time Heather and I did it (going to Mexico), we simply grabbed a new container of sofnolime, wrote our name and address on the outside and checked it. We did have to answer some questions, but no one gave us a hard time. We were even able to fly back from Mexico with the partially full container. I would DEFINITELY bring the MSDS sheets (several copies) along too. Having those with us made things much easier. Brian

In addition to the MSDS we also found the letter from Molecular Products certifying Sofnolime for airline travel helpful. You can find this on the Fill Express website as a downloadable PDF (sorry, I don't have a link). I would DEFINITELY bring the MSDS sheets (several copies) along too. Having those with us made things much easier. Brian I would also suggest that you allot PLENTY of time to check in at the airport (it did take us a bit longer due to the questions).

Great stuff gang! Here it is in addition to the MSDS. 1) Molecular Products declaration of Sofnolime transport class as non-hazardous. 2) Sofnolime MSDS Richard

Re: Soda Lime to go please When I pack lime to go, I use the food saver, but I also put a very offical looking label inside each bag, along with the MSDS. I have never had any issues with TSA or airlines this way. Just allow some estra time at check in for all of the questions. RRB
