Little Cayman

Planing a trip to Little Cayman this October. Does anyone know if there are any shops that support Rebreather diving? I think all we really need is a shop that banks O2 and it would be nice to rent tanks while we are down there.

Thanks

Re: Little Cayman

I just returned two weeks ago from Little Cayman two weeks ago with a group of 26 divers. We stayed at Little Cayman Beach Resort and they have absolutely no support for Rebreather, no O2, no sorb, nothing. Additionally, they don't allow anything other than very structured recreational profiles. (Had quite a run in with them over my 135' profile ). I am not aware of anyone or anyplace on the island that can give you the support. I tried to have some shipped over from Grand Cayman (Dive Tech), but it ended up not being practical. Great diving, just not very tech friendly. (however, I will say that the deserts at the buffet were incredible!)

Hello John, I did my first rebreather SCR course on Little Cayman back in '98 and while the diving was good, I think Turks and Caicos/Provo and the outer atolls of Belize have as good or better diving and both have CCR friendly facilities. There's very good support at O2 Technical in Provo-O2, Sorb-and I thought the diving there was as good as it gets for that part of the world. There's a CCR friendly facility in Ambergrise Key, Belize and they can reach the outer atolls with a fast day boat. Check the APD web site, it's a good resource for CCR friendly destinations. -Andy

Re: Little Cayman

I was in Grand Cayman in May and wanted to jump over to Little Cayman. I looked into sending sorb and 02 over from GC but it was simply not practicle. There is no support in Little C for us ccr types. Go to GC, Turks, Bonaire or Ambergris and dive Belize!
