| Diving Finland in September Hi guys! I will be in Finland in September this year and would like to do some diving while I'm there. Does anyone have contract information for a live-a-board that would be operating at that time? I'd like to dive some of the Baltic wrecks and have 5-10 days to spend diving. Cheers, Paul |

| Re: Diving Finland in September Where in Finland are you going to stay? There are a few dive boats that do at least weekend trips around Helsinki and Turku. Most boat are non commercial (dive club owned), but most can take guest if they have room on the boat. I am currently in Sweden but should be back home in september. I can try to find you some links if you like. JH |

| Re: Diving Finland in September Hi JH, Thanks for your reply. I will be staying in Helsinki. Yes, please send me the links. If they're only in Finnish or Swedish then that's fine as my wife can translate. If there's not much available in Finland, would there be anything in Aland or Sweden that's worth considering? My other thought was to dive in Narvik, which I have done before. However my first choice is to dive some of the great wrecks in Finland that I've heard about. Cheers, Paul |

At least from Turku, because you have a direct boat connection from Turku to Åland. http://www.divealand.com/ -- Harri |

Two things will make you weep though, the ammount of non-ferrous on the wrecks and the price of beer...

| Re: Diving Finland in September Thanks guys. I've been in contact with Ville and I'm waiting to see if he can arrange anything around my dates. Thanks for the offer of lake and mine diving JH. I'd love to come and I am cave certified, but I'm probably not going to bring a lot of gear with me due to the extreme cost of excess baggage. My twin-inspiration weighs about 55kg, plus all the other gear. Anyway, I'll let you know what I'm able to organise. Cheers, Paul |

Having just returned from Åland (again), I can confirm that the wrecks are still spectacular. Two things will make you weep though, the ammount of non-ferrous on the wrecks and the price of beer... Ville does however not stock Softno, the main business is still open circuit divers. They use the DIR approach, but have a very open mind towards CCR, and the many strange requests that rebreather divers sometimes have Should you be interested, there is quite a few wreck pictures from Åland on my website. More will be added in the next couple of days. Good luck with the Baltic diving. It's very addictive. Johnny |
