| Re: Belize I have been to Belize twice over the past few years. The prior owner of Protech sold the place about 2 years ago. He was a French guy (real nice and had great equipment including an Inspo classic for rent). Last I heard they were still up and running with new ownership. There is a lot of dive shop competition on Ambergris Caye so I would not be suprised if they closed. Alos, they don't get too many tech divers. I would contact the Belize office of tourism if the website and tel number are dead-ends. Let us know if you find anything out. I've only just seen this. The "previous owner" of Protech was an Israeli, not French, and he didn't sell it but just walked away. He never owned it (although I've found out that this was the story he spread) and in fact had not one cent of his own in the business. He was actually a thief and a conman who took a vast amount of money and property. The business was started by the two of us with my money. There are two independent and well-researched reports which confirm this.He had direct access to the website at the time and as a parting gesture disabled it and prevented me from resurrecting it. After exhausting all avenues open to me I opened a fresh website Welcome to Protech dive centre in Belize!. I subsequently discovered that although I was probably his worst victim I certainly wasn't the first, and I know he has tried to con at least one person and one business since. But like all the best conmen he is VERY good at it. Anyone contemplating having any dealings with him at any level should be very careful. But he seems to have dropped out of sight, unless he's changed his name. Last edited by peterbj7 : 31st January 2008 at 20:59. |
