| Classic KISSer Current Rebreather/s: | CCR diving in Hawaii late June / early July It looks like I am required ( ) to go to stay in a luxury hotel in Waikiki for 10 days later this year. With any luck I'll be able to get a day of diving in and would like to know of there are any CCR supporting operations about the place.Hints, suggestions, advice, all welcome!

| Re: CCR diving in Hawaii late June / early July There are quite a few CCR divers on Oahu, but honestly, most of them support themselves. I do know that Island Divers does O2 fills, and Deep Ecology has sorb for sale. |

| Re: CCR diving in Hawaii late June / early July Yes, the shops on Oahu cannot support a rebreather diver. Recently, I've had to do my own O2 fills at my apartment. The one shop that did fill O2 for me couldn't do it for economical reasons. Sorb and parts are all purchased through the internet. I think there is a dive shop on the big island that supports rebreather divers. |

| Classic KISSer Current Rebreather/s: | It sort of looks like I'm and will have to OC! Surely there's someone in the marines or similar who dives RBs? Next you'll all be telling me it's warm water and all I need is a black wetsuit! ![]()

| Re: CCR diving in Hawaii late June / early July Quote: (Originally Posted by Andy Del) It sort of looks like I'm I did my Mk 15.5 training course here on Oahu, so to say that there is zero support is quite incorrect. The one dive store that used to support rebreather divers, Sea and Sea, changed ownership and they haven't come up to speed yet. But OC, are you kidding? It is true that all though there are more CCR divers on Oahu than the other islands, there are less facilities for CCR on Oahu than Hawaii the Big Island (Kona) and Maui. Reason: Oahu is not a great tourist dive destination, as compared to Kona and Maui. Locals quickly get their own stuff to make things cheaper as it is expensive in Hawaii enough as it is. Tourists may dive while they are on Oahu, but they generallyu do not come to Oahu to dive. and will have to OC!It is good that you are planning this far ahead. Someone here will help you out. If you want, I can leave a keg of 4-8 sorb for you, and confirm with Island Divers that they can fill your O2 bottle and provide bailout bottles, etc. I would still recommend bringing your two onboard cylinders (valves off, of course) along with your rebreather on the plane. |

B&B Scuba on Maui has full rebreather support with trimix, and even has an Inspiration or two for rent. They also do deep technical tours on places like the rarely dived PB4Y bomber.Konaquatica on Big Island has full rebreather support and a rather impressive fill station. I agree with you Ed, that Oahu will continue to lack in services until people start coming here to dive with their rebreathers. There are some great dives on Oahu, don't get me wrong, but they are much less accessible than those on Maui, Big Island, and Kauai. Andy is a perfect example of one of the reasons why: Andy is not flying to Oahu to go diving, but just wants to go diving while he is here. |
