| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Yongala rebreather support I am going to be down in Oz for a bit and am thinking of bringing the KISS along. I want to dive the Yongala and was wondering if there are any live aboards or dive operations in the area that support rebreathers. |

| Re: Yongala rebreather support Interesting question. Don't be surprised if your treated like a leper going further up north, they cater for the cattle market. Your best bet would be in Brisbane, Queensland--On a liveaboard called the Esperance Star. The Skipper dives a breather & he knows how to please a brother, come customer. ![]() There again, somebody may tell you differently & I would welcome that ![]() |

| Holiday diver Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Yongala rebreather support The Yongala might be somewhat of a drive from brisney land though, but given the correct amount of money trev might be interested in running up the coast... Your best bet would be to send the operaters an email, there are not too many. 2 or 3 from the top of my head. Don't forget the company running from Ayr, a town about an hour south of townsville. They go with a fast rib and the trip to the yongala takes anywhere between the 20 and 45 mins. Beats sitting on a boat for 4 hours to get there from t'ville. You could try asking SaDave, since he seems to be there reguarly, or find a guy named tubby who lives or used to live in t'ville and dives an kissed dolphin. good luck and great dives! denz.

| Re: Yongala rebreather support HI I did the Yongala as part of a 3 day cruise (all on OC). Booking went through www.diversionoz.com. They did a great job for me, perhaps you should drop them an email and ask whether they can arrange something for you. Diving the Yongala is best right after dawn, that is the time when all the big guys are still out hunting. Good luck and please let us know Jens |

| Bloody Rebreathers! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Yongala rebreather support I have just trained a diver who has just taken over the Ayr Hotel (what we call a pub) and his plan is to provide Rebreather support. I will ask. I will post later as my customers are yelling at me to get ready and take them diving NOW!!!!

| Re: Yongala rebreather support Hi, If you travel down to Sydney, there is a great dive operator just off the Spit.. Called Southern Cross Divers they cater for the Tech diver and Rebreather diver. I have dived with these a few times and they are outstanding!! The owner Barry (BAZ) will supply you with all your rebreather needs.. There is some great wreck diving to be had just out from Sydney.. Check their web page www.southerncrossdivers.com.au ![]()

| Re: Yongala rebreather support http://www.yongaladive.com.au/ Try theses guys. One of the guys who set this busuness up is SCR and Trimic OC qualified. Not sure if he is still there, but worth a shot. Other than that you will struggle to find operators who can take Rebreather's to yongala as the operator under QLD dive regs must have a Nitrox XCR qualified dive supervisor on board for the dive. (Read, a DM with a RB cert). These are not commmon. If you are trimix qualified, the above does not apply, but most operators will not take you any way as they basically don't know how to apply the rules, and think the above applies . Qld is most of the most regulated dive industries in the world. P.S I hope you have a cert for your unit, if you don't, forget bringing it to QLD. Best of luck, if you find someone, let us know ![]() Matt Last edited by MHD : 19th March 2006 at 10:00. |

| Bloody Rebreathers! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Yongala rebreather support Thanks MHD, As I alluded in my previous post, Steve "Hungry" is now up at the Ayr hotel. His plan was to get "in bed" with YongalaDive and give them Rebreather support. I believe he has 22 rooms of accommodation, so hopefully mutual cooperation between the the two parties can benefit all involved. He has access to O2. Sorb could be easily available, and he is/was a DM IIRC. I have told Hungry that I would help him out with cylinders. I think that between you (MHD), Damon, Jason L and Hungry should formulate a cunning plan while you guys are in Truk together to get a boat load of CCR divers onto the wreck this Winter.
