| Diving around Vietnam Does anyone have any information concerning diving in Vietnam ? The further south (closer to Saigon/HCM City) the better, like near Vung Tau. Thanks in advance!

| Re: Diving around Vietnam I have been to Vietnam quite a few times diving. Most of the diving is done in Na Trang. I have been to Saigon where my friend has a shop but he runs his trips to Na Trang also. Vung Tau I just had a article published on a trip that I was invited on. We took a 24 hour boat ride out of Vung Tau to a suspected ancient pottery wreck. We spent 3-4 days with a Side Scan sonar searching for the wreck. My job was to take some archeologists to 80 meters to view the pottery. This was all done throught the Vietnam government and archeology department. The trip was awesome, the government put us up in some fancy rooms and had girls follow us around giving us flowers and such. I have a new project in the working that sounds like it will be quite enjoyable also. In Vung Tau I do not think there is much diving going on. I did not see any dive shops there. Seen a few massage parlors which was even better andibk |

| Re: Diving around Vietnam Quote: Mate of mine did two weeks diving in July over there with his SK. Ummmmmm, yes I am on the list. He is not on the list but here are some photos and a trip report. The place to dive with is Rainbow Divers, they are rebreather friendly out of Nha Trang and run a very good operation - they were excellent when I was there 6 months ago. It's purely macro diving, don't go over expecting any deep, wreck or big fish dives as it's not the place for that. |

| Re: Diving around Vietnam hellooo mister KISS..uuuhm what's that again? - I've been hanging with too many I consider my OC-rig to be KISS but this is RBW, so you might talk about something else. Actually I'm not assigned to talk to you about rebreathers HH for KISS? Nice, suppose its revised version, Phi knows. On topic: I second earlier statements, Bruce refers to a government-operation, AFAIK no commercial boat-operators for deep wrecking off Vung Tau. Should be tough to find private fishermen with decent boats also, offshore fishing still centralized. Even for goverment-supported operations there were plans arround to charter elesewhere, f.e. Singapore. cheers, hoffi |
