Red Sea Trip March 2006 Hi All, My bud and I have booked ourselves on a 'Get Wrecked' week on MV Typhoon in the Red Sea between 19-26/3/06. It's a Northern week, doing all the usual suspects (Thistlegorm, Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and the Rosalie Muller), all metal, no reefs (Reefs are great, but they get upset if you try to penetrate them........ ).Has anyone been on Typhoon yet? She's only a year old and looks pretty spanky, but what's she really like? Has anyone done this itinerary? Any feedback? Diving the YBOD, are there any issues on this boat (yes, I know, apart from it being a YBOD!) Anything else we should know? Look forward to any feedback anyone may have and poosibly see you on the boat in March. Cheers, BB Last edited by schford : 24th November 2005 at 13:32.

| Annoying fish since 1992 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Red Sea Trip March 2006 I did a Brothers Wreck itinerary on the Royal Emperor last July. The R/E was just out of a refit and was excellent. After settling in on the evening we arrived some of us went to have a look at the Typhoon which was a few berths down in the marina in Sharm . Their divers had not arrived and so the dive guide (Simon I think?) very generously gave us a quick tour of the boat. It was very impressive and looked very comfortable. I seem to remember a large plasma TV in the upstairs lounge - might be worth bringing a few DVDs. It's a relatively new boat so you should have a good week. |

Re: Red Sea Trip March 2006 Thanks Patto, that info's much appreciated. Now all we need is the Kylie Minogue and Angelina Jolie Lookalike Society to book the rest of the spaces.... ![]()

Re: Red Sea Trip March 2006 Hey, My buddy and I have just booked us on this trip as well. What do you guys do for SofnoLime ? Bring your own or pay the £20 a fill. We have debating pro's and cons on wetsuit vs drysuit. Spending 5 hours a day (on low'ish setpoint ) in the February red sea waters, might call for drysuits, even though they are bulky to bring along. What do you guys bring ? Cheers, Kasse

Cheers, Kasse In answer to your questions : we got the lime there, by the time we paid extra luggage it wasnt worth it, plus the possible hassle getting it on the plane wasnt very appealing.... I'd make sure they have enough before you leave though. We nearly departed with a rather limited amount, but they had access to plenty more quite easily so I would check that when you arrive on the boat. We took 5mm wetsuits, and spent 3 - 4 hours a day in the water. It was all fine for me and I'm sure you will be even more hardened to the cold water so it should be fine! The water was between 20 and 23 degrees and will be wamer by the time you get there. The only time I got cold was on the Rosalie Moller where it was noticeably colder and was not enjoying my 25 mins deco... But 95 mins on the Thistlegorm was no worries at all. There were some guys with membrane drysuits and they werent overheating too much, so its up to you, but if I was going now (oh I wish) I'd take my 5mm againcheers Ed

Re: Red Sea Trip March 2006 Thanks for the advice Ed, I think there will be quite alot of Rebreather divers on our trip so we'd better make sure we have enough SofnoLime.. Imagine running out of Sofno Lime in the middle of the trip and then having to reuse ...Cheers, Lasse
